It was really tasty and fast and fresh. I wish I got the 3 for $12, because the size of just one is pretty tiny. I had the matcha cream with the chocolate dipping sauce. Chocolate and matcha are always winning combination. I will be back to try more! There are alot of flavors including sweet and savory ones. The seating is very limited to either going downstairs and getting a table, or about 3 scattered tables just outside the shop. Can be a bit difficult to find a seat especially if the Market itself is really busy. But the waffles themselves are pretty to easy to eat standing up if need be. They have a really unique tayaki ice cream cone which I'll try next time, but it was be great to have an option to add ice cream to one of the sweet tayakis because that just seems like perfect dessert! Ice cream flavors are pretty limited, because it was just vanilla and strawberry at the time but they do have some interesting topping choices. Not run of the mill at all, but just a bit lacking. Hard to choose since everything is so new!
Update: Tried some new flavors again. Sort of disappointed. They were not fresh. I had the bacon egg and cheese, the custard and the Nutella. The bacon egg and cheese was stale, and the egg was way overcooked. The flavor was okay but it was just not enjoyable . The Nutella had barely any filling, the custard was warm at least and had a decent amount of filling. The custard filling was more like condensed milk tasting that what I was expecting but it was tasty. It was the best of the bunch. It's pretty hit or miss. They didn't have the red bean or the matcha which is what I wanted. So yet again I was disappointed in...

After dining and DOMU downstairs, I decided to try Wafu for dessert: good choice, past-self!
Wafu looks, feels, and smells like a kawaii, Japanese sweets shop. The moment I stepped in, I was hit by that fluffy, cakey scent of taiyaki while music from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild played over the indoor speakers. On my right stacked an array of inspired merchandise (pins, shorts, and more), topped by a No Face coin bank. The staff poured fresh batter into the taiyaki molds, right behind the glass barrier, and I could watch them being created in real-time.
Wafu's taiyaki is a must-try (the matcha cream is heavenly), but their ice cream is the true novelty experience. Waffle cones are set aside in exchange for a wide-mouthed taiyaki pastry, stuffed with fluffy tiers of ice cream. Wafu keeps its vanilla in stock while alternating another limited-time flavor and toppings (this time "Gingerbread" was the alternative).
Wait time can be considerable, as the shop is small; however, it's worth it (and you get to bask in that delicious taiyaki smell; seriously, when is somebody going to...
Read moreTaiyaki, Japanese waffle that is a sweet-ish in flavor and complements any flavors it is paired with. Traditionally filled with anko or sweet red bean paste but here they add eggs, cheese, kimchi, even custard. I think I read that it is believed to have originated in Tokyo and is over 100 years old.
The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the Eastend Market Street complex off of Corrine Drive in Orlando. Parking is on the limited side but if you wait :05-:10 you can always get a spot.
There are two cute purple tables upstairs, outside the takeaway restaurant or you can go downstairs and there are 20+ tables to sit at.
The folks that work there are pretty mellow and polite, helpful as well. The gal that helped us offered advice on what to choose. Great combo of three. One sweet and two savory for $12.50. Plus she told us about a point club, free waffle after 10 purchased.
The kimchi one is my favorite! The sweet waffle plays off the kimchi salty, acidic so well. If you get one with cheese they put a lot of cheese in there!!! A lot!!! Next time I would get two with the kimchi and try the custard ;)
Go, try the...
