Ormond Beach Sports Corner Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Ormond Beach

Update to my previous review. I said it was an over all good little spot; on the surface it is, but that is the surface. I had said I would go back when I’m in Ormand Beach; now it’s doubtful I will. The food is just as I rated typical bar food and that is at best. The onion rings are frozen which is definitely a typical standard for a bar. As I mentioned the cheese in the wrap I had ordered was not melted, and I didn’t even mention the greasiness of if ( oops, guess I just did). I read the reviews extensively and I am clearly not the only person who has had issues with the food at this establishment. The owner clearly has a problem accepting criticism and apparently doesn’t care enough to try to improve on areas that need adjustments, he would much rather leave sarcastic remarks in regards to those who didn’t care for the quality given, not very prideful or professional about his business, that’s if he even took the time to reply to the several who did not like the food. I was asked if I had sampled everything on the menu in order to make my statement, no I did not. There was and is no need to. Being a veteran of the Hospitality, Food and Beverage industry there wasn’t and isn’t a need to. My family for generations back have owned and flipped bars of all types so when I rate the food as typical bar food rest assured, it is. For the past 2 years I have praised Ormond Beach Sports Corner Bar and Grill. That has now changed and I just deleted my 5 Star review. Why you ask, because staffing changes and decisions by the owner have made it no longer a “Happy Place” for me. The service is generally SLOW. This is NOT THE SERVERS FAULT. It is clearly a staff shortage or lack of scheduling for busy times. The kitchen is another story. Over the past 6 months it has become “Hit or Miss”. Some days things are great, other times the same dish can be over cooked and dry or a bit raw. The seasonings have also changed a bit. Again either really good or bland and lacking. No need to criticize each dish but they can do better. The portions Also seem to be at the discretion of whoever is in the kitchen. Then the prices continue to increase but the dishes also have diminished appeal. Harry and his “Harryokee” have made this place a wonderful place to meet and interact with friends. Sadly, that is not enough to continue to support a LOCAL Business that seems to put profits first. I fully understand they are here to make a profit but not at the expense of slow service and substandard food options. If it were more hit than miss I would continue to support their efforts but as an honest reviewer I can no longer recommend this business at this time. first let me say rarely give food reviews good or bad tht being said we have been to the bar and grill a couple times before the last time we went on a sunday also and the waiter said that they stop serving food at 8 or so this time i checked on the website and it says till 9pm so i called and wanted to ake sure what the hrs are i called and spoke to chelsea and she said kitchen was open till 11 which i kinda found stange but ok we got there at 830 and i told her the website said food was till 9 on website she said that was wrong ok so far we ordered so drinks then wanted to get food so we ordered mind you the place was nearly empty half a hr later we ask about food said it was coming half hr later still no food anyways it was a hr later we finally got our food i understand it was not her fault the food was so late but if you are telling someone something and its wrong it should be adressed i like the place in general since its close to home but i feel the maneger should know of my experiance that being said ill go back to drink but not to eat if its past a certain time ...
