Pre-Pandemic, I loved and frequented Rosatiās. Kind staff, chill vibes, and consistently great food. Today, I went for dine-in for the first time in many months since there was a rumor of a covid case(s) amongst staff that was being hidden as to not alarm customers. Visit didnāt start great with a crummy table that clearly hadnāt been wiped and a menu with caked on cheese or something. Easy mistake though. But I was very disappointed to see the bartender, an older woman wearing a shirt that said āMoney, Pizza,ā and a third thing I canāt remember, prancing around the restaurant, between tables, left the restaurant entirely, came back in, and in and out of the kitchen THREE TIMES, ALL OF THIS without a mask. Later, a younger man came out of the kitchen maskless, the swinging door revealing one woman in the kitchen with a mask, and another without one. This behavior is frankly very reckless and while Iām not the type to raise concerns in the restaurant in front of other currently eating customers, I feel future possible diners have the right to know. I for one will not be dining or ordering take out here again after tonight.
Edit: After reading other reviews, it seems this is an issue that has persisted over many months. Interesting to me that one of the owner replies is: ā You are welcome to ask for a masked waiter or waitress and we will provide that. May I also suggest curbside or no contact delivery?ā Blaming the customer instead of taking responsibility for your negligence? Donāt open your restaurant for dine in (or even take out) if youāre not going to follow basic science and public health orders. I donāt ārequest a masked waitress,ā I demand that anyone who breathes on my food wears a mask like the laws say. Pretty simple
Edit 2: Thanks for the lengthy and thoughtful reply haha... you simply ooze apathy and lack of concern for your customers. Here is a quote for you from Pima Countyās MINIMUM requirements of restaurants: ā Cloth masks and gloves and/or frequent handwashing is required for all servers and restaurant personnel. ā Considering neither all servers nor all restaurant personnel were wearing masks, as echoed by four other reviewers, it seems like you are not in fact in compliance with the laws, as you havenāt been for months. I hope AZDHS drops in on you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was ordering on the phone, I was in the middle of my order and was asked to hold. I said sure thatās fine. They put me on hold for 20 minutes!!! When they finally came back on, she said it was just really busy. I asked if that meant that everyone else would have their order before mine since my order wasnāt submitted and she said yes. I had just told this girl that we were in the middle of moving, so I was excited that they would deliver so I could get my 4 hungry kids fed, and this weekend had been chaos. If the staff was overwhelmed with the people waiting in the lobby, which was her excuse, all you have to do is ask the overflow to wait outside while it clears out. Itās 89 degrees out right now, itās not that hot for them to wait outside for a few minutes while others finish up their meals. There is no reason to make someone wait for 20 mins when they needed about 30 seconds to finish their order, and then take who knows how many orders in front of mine⦠this pizza place does not do business well, and Iād suggest all schools that do fundraisers here find a different pizza place.
**In response to the owners reply: Thank you for actually reading the reviews, but I will never again go here again. You guys care more about money than the people who come here. You made it very clear that since I had a smaller order, it wasnāt worth your time, and took orders of those other people before mine instead of taking 30 seconds to place my order. I understand that mistakes get made, but how you treat your customers is important. This was not a mistake, this was a clear lack of care...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat pizza and great service. Plus they have authentic Chicago Dogs. We lived in Chicago once upon a time and really miss those! Have good craft beers and wine also. We ate outside during the mid afternoon, their only outside customers, but the service was still excellent. We plan to visit often.
A more detailed update some 7 years later: This place FEELS like we are in Chicago. Love it!
We have since eaten inside with a group of friends several times. The interior walls are a Chicago picture history book. And like the good Chicago eateries they don't change a thing, so it ages, and as it does it gets better. I lived in Chicago for 10 years and this Rosati's makes me homesick.
Always busy, they have a good sized bar that stays full of mostly single drinkers/eaters. We almost always sit at a table though they also have booths.
They also have a busy take out business so parking, while more than ample, may take a bit morer searching than us spoiled suburbanites are used to.
They don't take reservations but there's usually little/no wait except during the 6 pm rush. Last night we arrived at 6 with a party of 9 and so they had to join 2 tables. We waited 15 minutes so they could ready this arrangement after 2 adjacent tables became available. We had a lot of fun crowded into her tiny lobby kibitzing with the steady flow of customers picking up their to-go orders. A Chicago standing-room-only...
