Every year, I think maybe this DQ changed or the fact that I thought it was bad was just in my head so I try it again but every year I am just as disappointed as the year before.
Their blizzards have minimal (and I mean Minimal) treats mixed in (e.g. only a sprinkling of Oreos). I have ordered a royal blizzard (an upgraded, more expensive blizzard due to the core of fudge - yes, it’s as delicious as it sounds if done right) a couple times from this DQ and there is literally only a Wisp of fudge. The first time I thought it was a fluke. The second time, I knew it wasn’t considering the history of bad blizzards I’ve ordered from this DQ. (I have patiently eaten the whole blizzard hoping the fudge or treats were at the bottom...spoiler alert: they’re not). I’ve been to multiple other DQ’s and have had a substantial core of fudge and a generous amount of treats (e.g. Oreos) in my blizzards.
I will only ever go to this DQ again if I want a plain, soft-serve ice cream cone and I never want just a soft-serve cone, therefore, I will never go to this DQ again. It is very unfortunate as it is the only DQ in the Lake Minnetonka area (which I’m sure is why it survives). I have friends and family who have all come to the same conclusion about this DQ: would not recommend. I only recommend this DQ if you want an easy dilly bar or cone. (Although, I wouldn’t know since I never get cones or dilly bars, I just assume you can’t mess those up.)
Thank you for reading. I’ve been writing this review in my head for years and finally got it down in text form. I’m sorry if you were looking forward to a delicious DQ blizzard. I hope I am proven wrong one day (if I break my promise to never go back). This review’s purpose is to hopefully motivate this DQ to improve the quality of their food (e.g. the...
Read moreExcellent Service! I stop when ever we are in the area and have never been disappointed. My only complaint is that they are not open all year. As for the people complaining about having to pay for water. Yes, to you it is only water... and you think it should be free. Do you stop to think that the owner of this business has to pay their employee to get you the water. They are also providing the ice and the cup for the water. Why should it be free to you but cost the owner to provide you with a beverage? Fact of the matter is for a small business to stay in business it has at least break even in the end. So they have to charge something. Same goes for the FREE Cones. This is not a corporate store, therefore they still need to pay their employees and for...
Read moreWrong order and short changed Been a Westonka resident for more than 25 years. Used to never think twice about pulling into the drive thru on the way home. Excited for Spring and the re-Opening so decided to treat ourselves on a Sunday night. Made the run for the household. Half the order was wrong and when I got home we were shorted on our change by $5 dollars. Thought it odd that the window was slammed shut before I could even say 'Thank you' but the 'boys' sure seemed to be having a good time plus they gave themselves a nice tip at our expense. Fortunately the Drive-In and local creamery will soon be open for the Season and we'll be going where they care about the locals. Sadly last night will be our last...
