Went to Tacorita for the first time today. Ordered five burritos online and an appetizer. I arrived thirty minutes after the order was placed and the food was already ready to go.
I figured, “hmm, how much longer could some “horchata bites” take?” I placed an extra order for a single order of horchata bites. The very nice person at the register said it would just be a few minutes.
I figured, they’ll just grab these things out of the freezer, microwave them or toss them around in a pan and I’ll be on my way.
Anyway, I have no idea what happened. Somehow it took very close to 25 minutes for the small horchata bites to be ready to go.
During this time I stood around and found that little bloke in the coffee news. I watched quite a few other people get their food, and/or place orders. I contemplated the meaning of our human existence, and also reconsidered essentially every decision I’ve ever made in my life.
Eventually, about ten minutes after I realized how much I regretted ordering the horchata bites due to all the extra time- they were ready.
The food was okay. The person at the register who helped me was above average nice and just genuinely seemed good. The food was average. The cost of the food seemed about average but I don’t eat out here nearly as often as back home in Boston.
For clarity; the driving force behind the lower review is for the average food, and the below average time on a simple in-house order during a time they weren’t that busy. (Not saying no one was there, but there were a couple empty seats in the restaurant still).
Unfortunately a lackluster experience.
Will also say though, I’ve seen their ads on instagram and the food in their ads looks so so so good.
I would definitely consider trying this place again, but my expectations would hopefully be much...
Read moreWhilst I have only been there once. This was a very bad experience. The plates were these weird metal things and my tacos were freezing cold and the plate was just soaked with liquids. It was basically a drowning cold Taco. The person I was there with also ordered and their food was also freezing cold. It wasn't even busy in there so I'm not sure how they messed it up so badly. Their menu up on the wall is also kinda strange, it's like now choose a protein. But yeah I didn't feel so great after this one.
(update) Reply to the owner: (not sure how to reply other than to edit here), first please use your name in your response. This is your business, who are you? You know what I mean? I do however appreciate you at least taking the time to look at your reviews. As I started to explore more local places to eat, I found a few I really liked and others that had problems. It was a few months ago that I visited your place. I didn't think I would write any negative reviews for anyone, just figured don't go back. But then I thought I'm going to run out of good places to eat if folks aren't going to improve and how can I help? -- Provide feedback. And sure Orono already has one Mexican restaurant but Mexican food is my favorite food and I want Orono businesses to do well and provide good service to folks. But not only did I end up feeling sick, but it didn't go so well for the person with me and I thought hey it's one visit, could be a fluke, but then my coworkers also have had bad experiences there. I'm not planning to go back anytime soon nor am I going to contact you outside of this review. But if you want to improve, then please earn some great reviews, really pay attention to what is happening in your business and you will do...
Read moreI don't even know where to start. This is some of the best food I've had in Maine. From Portland to Fort Kent, this is quality eats that really impressed me.
The Birria Tacos... Ohhhh the Birria Tacos! Has food ever made you wish you could move in? The most tender, most flavor filled steak imaginable, and a little side of consomme to drizzle (read: drench) your tacos in. Get in my mouth... Get in my mouth every day....
Counterpoint; The Fish Tacos. A generous golden, crispy battered delicate, flaky fillet of fish. Zesty, chipotle mayo coleslaw with a crunch just tantalizing enough to draw your senses down a wonderful side path to smack straight into the tangy, sweet pineapple chunks. The clean simplicity was like a cool dip in the lagoon before laying back in the sun for the next bite of Birria.
Thank you. And I'm sorry. I can't believe I used to take you to Taco Bell... All the time... But if it lead to this... If that's what it took! If the gorditas of a sorrowful past have lead to a life lived righting that wrong, it was worth it. Man, this place is incredible! Just awesome! Eat here. Eat here often, and leave never...
