Their sauces are good. All of them are kind of thin. The sweet and spicy are exactly what you expect, with the spicy a nice medium. The white was actually the spiciest, in my opinion, and tasted a lot like the coleslaw sauce with peppers in it. I had ribs, while my husband had the loaded baked potato with pulled pork, and the nine year-old had mac & cheese and cornbread. My husband loved his potato, so we'll give that five stars. My ribs were fine, but dry. The store hadn't been open long when we went, so they hadn't had time to sit that day: three stars for those. Unfortunately, the 9yo's mac& cheese was not good, and the cornbread was so dry we all tried it and agreed that it had to be from the day before. It would have broken in half if we dropped it. It was also bland, so even if it had been fresh, I wouldn't recommend it. The mac&cheese was spicy, which was sad, but the pasta was also overcooked, so her meal gets two stars. (The pasta was also cavatappi, so the noodles were really big bites for a kid, just FYI.) Honestly, given how many barbecue places there are nearby, I'm shocked the ratings here were so good, but maybe we caught them on an off day. Service was also mediocre, with food coming from tubs and heating trays, not the kitchen, and one person looking like they'd really rather be somewhere not helping us. The decor was fun, and there's an upper level of seating, so it's larger than it looks...
Read moreI don't mean to be coy by playing off their name, but if you're in the Lake area and jonesin' for first-class BBQ, this is the place. I'm a BBQ snob, KC is the best in the world, and this place has my full attention. Been twice so far and the burnt ends (when available) were outstanding. Second time I got the BBQ cheddar sandwich special and it was amazing. Makes me drool like Homer Simpson just thinking about it.
For sides, I've had the corn and the baked beans. Couldn't recommend them both enough.
Of course, for quality BBQ, you're paying more than you do for a run through a fast food joint, but if you want a killer sit down meal that will leave a lasting impression, this is the place.
It's a bit out of the way on the old business loop, but trust me, it's...
Read moreFirst of all, the restaurant is SO CUTE, and we were greeted by literally two of the sweetest guys ever. They were so personable, helpful, and informative. So, we ordered a big platter with turkey, pulled pork, brisket, sausage, and the four sides we chose were mac-n-cheese, cheesy corn, baked beans, and baby gold potatoes. They were all delicious, but my favorite were the beans!! Omgahhhhh!! I don’t even like baked beans, but these were phenomenal! All the meats were so juicy and tender. The burnt ends just melted in our mouths, and the BBQ sauce was top tier! Can’t wait to go back and try the ribs and cherry cake! Oh, their cherry cobbler was honestly the best I’ve ever had! Goooo!!! You will not be disappointed! We should’ve taken pictures, but we ate...
