Update: 3.2.25, 11:15, and this place is humming! The inside eating space is tiny but cozy. Another bowl of killer menudo, 5*! Call ahead, it will cut down on the wait.
Update: Ordered a bowl of Menudo (only on Sundays) this morning, and it was one of THE best bowls I've ever had! I ordered it w/pata, and that's hard to find these days. The order is $13 and worth every single penny! It is one of the most legit taco shops from here to & including Jeff City. Everything is delicious, but the street tacos de Barbacoa are freaking AMAZING. The meat was tender, juicy, and so tasty! My husband loved his chicken quesadilla because it was very flavorful and juicy. It had lots of cheese, and unlike other quesadillas around the lake, it's the total opposite of dry. The guacamole was fresh and tasty and beware of the red hot sauce in the plastic bottles. 😬 It's not super cheap, but nothing is anymore, right? I'm happy to pay for quality, and the folks that work there...
Read moreTacos are pretty good. The people working actually managed to severely hurt my feelings though. I ordered $45 worth of food, picked it up got back to my lodge and there wasn’t queso and chips that I ordered. Normally I wouldn’t care but it was $4.50 and I wasn’t too far so I called and told them I could pick up. The woman opens the window, walks away grabs queso and hands it to me. I tell her I also had chips and the man walks over to the window and said “If you want more chips you need to pay for them” and I try to tell him I didn’t have any with my food and he says “I know I put them in a bag and he put them in with your food” I was saying that I wouldn’t lie about a small bag of chips and that I’ll just go (because I do not like confrontation) and he said “I’ll just give you a bag”. I felt like a fool. I am not in a place where I have to lie to get extra chips and I WOULD NEVER STEAL. So good food,...
Read moreWow, seriously AMAZING food. My first time at La Tapatia, honestly I was intimidated by the size of the restaurant but some friends said it was really good, authentic food and DUH you can get it to go... so, I went. Inside there are three or four tables so I could have dined in but still chose to take it to go. The kitchen is in view which meant I could see and SMELL as my food was being prepared. Again, AMAZING. I ordered two tacos (Al Pastor and Shrimp with Cheese and Lettuce). Both really authentic and good but I have to say I was floored by the Shrimp taco, so good. I also ordered a Tamale. There are no words for the tamale! Shredded chicken in a real corn husk (removed but obvious) tamale covered in some sort of gorgeous white sauce, cilantro and a bit of white cheese (Queso Fresco?). Just unbelievable. I never write reviews so please note, I was blown away enough...
