EL KOMEDERO — Restaurant in Oshkosh

My husband and I decided to dine here on Friday night. I really enjoyed the colorful decor when I walked in the door. The walls have vibrant murals and the tables and chairs are colorful. It's a wonderful change of pace from muted neutral tones of most restaurants these days.

We were seated very quickly. Chips and salsa were brought to the table almost as soon as we sat, and we were able to order drinks right away. The menu has a lot of standard dishes, but also includes some novel dishes that sound delicious.

I had the Texanas fajitas and really enjoyed them. The seasoning was perfect, allowing the flavors of the meats and vegetables to shine through. The refried beans had a different, but tasty, flavor than the typical refried beans I've had. The rice was a little salty, but good.

I really enjoyed dining here and will definitely be back to try more...

I recently dined at El Komedero and was thoroughly disappointed with the experience. The staff seemed disinterested, and the food was terrible. I was the only patron in the place. I ordered three cheese enchiladas, which arrived in 5 minutes. They were undercooked and obviously microwaved until they were lukewarm. Not only that, but they were covered with a tasteless white sauce. There was no traditional red or green sauce. My waitress never came back. She sat at the bar playing with her phone. I finally got someone's attention and explained that the food was cold and bad. I asked that the cost of the "enchiladas"  ($15) be taken off my bill. They said no. I paid for my margarita, refused to pay for the...

We finally gave El Komedero a try and one thing was immediately apparent: we waited WAY too long to come in and try it. What a pleasant, marked improvement from the previous restaurant!

Service was very friendly and very fast. The restaurant wasn't busy to be fair, but the staff was on their game. Our waiter had a great sense of timing, coming just the right amount for refills and checking on us.

All our food was extremely flavorful with generous portions and plated well. Everyone in our group could not believe just how amazingly delicious the food was.

All in all, this is now a place we'll definitely return to. Might even have to classify this as our new favorite Mexican place. Very highly...
