I placed an order at 7:27PM on December 6th, 2024. It was for the Fettucine A La Roxy, substitute Red Sauce for Alfredo/White Sauce & a side of Tortellini.
I picked up my order at approximately 8:12PM & paid a $3.00 tip. When I arrived home, I transferred the Fettucine A La Roxy from the To-Go Dish to a plate. As I looked at the food, I could already tell that the noodles were overcooked, as they were very brittle & falling apart. I took a bite & I found that the flavor was very bland & the noodles had a very displeasing, mushy texture. I took a bite out of the chicken & I also found that the chicken tasted quite odd. I tasted the bratwurst & the meatball & found them to be tasty & satisfactory. The tortellini was also good. However, being that I had just spent approximately $20 on my meal, I felt it was necessary to call The Roxy, express my concerns, & search for a solution to rectify the situation.
I spoke with a waitress & she advised me to speak with the hostess. I spoke with the hostess, but about halfway through my explanation, I was met with manager in the phone call. She asked me to repeat what my concerns were because she was abruptly handed the phone from the hostess. I repeated my concerns for the 3rd time. Her first question was, "How often do you come here?" (As if how regular of a customer I am should make a difference how the situation is handled..) I responded, "I don't come very often, but I've been ordering this plate for years & it's always been good, but this time something seems off about it." I was put on hold & the phone call disconnected. The Roxy then called me back with their solution. No big deal, it happens. They called me back. The manager stated that she would be willing to offer me a $10 gift card. I told her that is not satisfactory. She stated that since I brought the food home & I said that some of the food was good that the owner would only be willing to issue me a $10 gift card. She also stated that they can't take the losses on this order, as if The Roxy would never financially recover from fixing someone's order.. I asked her who the owner was, & she then stated that right now the owner's daughter is overseeing The Roxy. I decided to cut my losses & said fine to the $10 gift card. The Roxy called me back & informed me that the $10 gift card will be waiting for me to pick up when they open. I then readdressed my concerns to the representative. She stated that she was just calling back to let me know that the $10 gift card will be ready for me. She asked me if I had the slip in the bag for the order & that the cooks made it just how I asked for it, essentially inferring it's my fault that the food's quality is poor.
I have been ordering this plate for years. I know when something is off about the plate. The fact that how the situation should be handled depended on how often I dined there is appalling. It shouldn't matter if it was even my first time ordering at The Roxy or my 100th time. The rebuttal the manager gave me, stating that since some of the food was good I should only be accredited with a $10 gift card. I was fully prepared to bring back the entirety of the plate for a different meal. The statement that The Roxy can not take the loss on the order just compounds the ridiculousness of how this situation is handled. As if the The Roxy would not financially recover from fixing a $20 retail priced meal. The fact that the owner's daughter was unwilling to make this situation right in an appropriate manner is insane. The fact that the waitress/hostess calling me back was trying to infer that it's my fault for the order being the way it is because of how I ordered it is just insult to injury. After putting my food away back into the To-Go Dish, I ended up finding out that I was also missing a meatball! I unfortunately will no longer consider The Roxy as an option to dine at due to their lackluster choice in solving this problem. I have updated my previous rating from 5 stars...
Read moreI'd give it none if I could. Had a reservation for a birthday and a table of 6.
I couldn't even eat my meal, my partner has been sick all night due to the spoiled shrimp he tested for me off my plate and the questionable scallops on his plate.
We waited 30 minutes AFTER the reservation time for our table, only getting that because we kept bugging the stuff as we had disabled parties with us who couldn't tolerate standing around much longer, seated with no apologies and had zero communication from staff during all that time either btw.
We then waited another full hour before being served even just our rolls and the canned Costco soup. I couldn't cut the fat and gristle filled "prime" I was served with the knife they gave me.
The scampi wasn't scampi, it was some weird breaded mush over clearly freezer burned, overcooked, and what we figured out to be spoiled shrimp. The mashed potatoes were heat lamped to death, my rare order was well done. The mushrooms are canned. Again, my partner has been ill all night and he's usually a tank.
The drinks were so badly poured that another customer ended up collapsing in the restroom after not realizing how intoxicated they were while they waited the same 3 hours for mediocre at best food and the majority of the staff were sour faced and rude, and didn't even offer to assist the ill paton, leaving us fellow customers to help her.
I'm not usually one to complain about kids but there was a set of parents in the room adjacent to us letting their kids be absolutely ferrel and no one was willing to correct them. I have 6 neurodivergent kids, there is no reason kids should have been allowed to be running around, squealing and flopping around on the floor for the entire 3 hours I was forced to endure this place. The girls doing this were 10 years old and over.
I don't know how they have the reviews they have but the truth is, they are expensive for the canned and freezer burned food you get after a ridiculous wait time, have poor upper management, the manger wouldn't even come speak to me, while our initial service worker was doing her best and pleasant, the other flippant staff were more worried about playing with their makeup and hair in the mirror around the corner in the kitchen and taking to go orders than dealing with the stuff in front of them.
Spend your money elsewhere, I wish I would've known my partner would be as ill as he was because I still ended up paying nearly a $100 just his plate, for the privilege of dealing with a sick man and still needing to cook when I finally got home.
I'd fight for a refund but the drive there would make it a wash for me in gas...
Read moreRestaurant is best approached from the back side where there parking lot is on Division Street. Very limited on street parking at front of restaurant. Do not park in other Lots around or you will be towed and ticketed. We were won by the hostess when we made reservations over the phone.
Although when you come to the restaurant from the back entrance finding a horse to stand is not easy because you have to walk down a long hallway and through the bar and then you find the hostess station could be better signs in my opinion.
Salads and soups we're very good. I got the special of the day and they allowed me to choose half of each of the specials for my plate so I got roast turkey and roast pork along with my real mashed potatoes and stuffing with lots of gravy. It was very good.
My wife was craving a light tempura coated shrimp coconut shrimp or grilled shrimp. They said the best they could do was a panko coating on the shrimp. Believe me it was not panko evidently they don't know what it is. She also got the king prime rib. For some reason it was Bland and dry. It was cooked properly to her satisfaction I bet it lacked any pizzazz. Crab serving it with a warm red wine Bordelaise sauce would have been better then the aujou sauce. We did receive good service and left a nice tip for her efforts. We're not alcohol drinkers so we asked for some raspberry tea instead. They don't have anything like that on the menu. Too bad I need to add something like that to their list other than just soda. I would also suggest that they come up with another way to do shrimp other than fried and deep fried. Perhaps grilled or a true tempura or panko coating. So looking cruising this celebratory meal people not familiar with Oshkosh he dropped $60 without drinks. Just give you a point of reference but you can plan to spend when you visit this restaurant. The Ambiance and decorations are really nice beautiful floor and table everything is clean. Handicap...
