The Chalice — Restaurant in Oshkosh

We were sat rather quickly and got our drinks, then waited twenty mins for our waitress to return. When she did she asked us if we ordered yet. Always a bonos when your waitress can't remember if she took your order or not.

After we ordered the food came in good time. The roast beef sandwich was good, the "fries" are what I'm guessing are homemade chips. No seasoning and definitely not crispy.

The shrimp... Well they smelled like cheap frozen shrimp and were piled in the corner of the plate. Also with no seasoning. Just a 18 dollar plate with a small pile of bland rubber shrimp and a few slices of toast.

Fun update, the shrimp were not just bland, but bad. A few hours after we left both the wife and I started the stomach pain train. So that was fun.

I have no idea how places like this manage to stay busy. An easy one time only type of place.

Second fun update. Joe (the owner?) responded to my review. He explained that yes, the shrimp are frozen. But they're a very nice and expensive. He went on to explain what an American fry is, and that was nice of him. But that doesn't change the fact that they were soggy and tasteless. He offered a gift certificate... Maybe admitting to using frozen shrimp in an 18 dollar dish is not the best approach.

I don't understand all the five stars. I really don't. I guess most people just have low expectations.

Pro tip. If you're going to respond, don't justify using frozen anything at that price. Accept that someone in your kitchen served bad food and it got people sick. Don't try and justify and explain it away....

Went here with a friend, got there a little bit before 5. I’m glad we did, the dining area is very small. Other seating options are high tops on the wall by the bar (I prefer a table) we did get a table by the fireplace, very nice. It wasn’t very busy yet, took a bit for someone to get over by us to greet. Drinks were very good (got a Bloody Mary) Our waitress seemed rushed and kinda rambled through everything so we just ordered without asking too many questions. Tenderloin bites were delicious, ordered medium rare and were cooked correctly. For food we got steak cooked medium and I got baked haddock. Steak ended up being well done (I would’ve sent it back, but my friend ended up just eating it) my haddock was really good, I wouldn’t say it was a stand out for me though. We ended up getting dessert, the strawberry short cake and a scotcheroo. The shortcake was such a massive portion, you’d have to split with another person or two. Overall it was a decent experience, but they could really slow down when taking orders and acknowledge/engage a bit more. I don’t go out to eat very much at all and felt...

There is no option for a 10 star restaurant this is the best place I've ever eaten and the most amazing atmosphere, the restaurant is always warm in the winter the people are beyond words amazing and beautiful humans, they are always willing to help and are always there to serve the most amazing food you have ever tasted in your life And I can swear to you on that note. The owner Joe is cool and kind hearted the waitress's and cooks are hard working and have dedicated there entire life to serve you the best food and the Best drinks you will ever tasted in your life

I recommend this as a 10 star restaurant please stop by and give this place a chance you will not regret the decision
