Heyerly's Bakery — Restaurant in Ossian

Since the new owners took over...donuts are great yes. But the variation in quality and overall how the donut looks is so different each time. The strawberry iced yeast donut has been different the past 4 times, all good except for the ones I got today. They were clear icing with strawberry bits visible and too much powdered sugar in the glaze and they were soggy on the bottom because they iced them when they were too warm I'm assuming? I personally like the donut a little overcooked and don't think it's bad ever. Just the icing on so many of them varies so much.. the Bismark chocolate iced though! Those have gotten so much better with the custard inside tasting like a better quality. The icing just is so different on each donut everyday. They need more consistency. Also, have more courage to enforce social distancing please. People don't want to cluster and that's a good way to be held liable for someone's selfish choice not to care about other's health. People just started wearing masks behind the counter and still don't seem to think wearing them actually over your mouth AND nose is important. But that's how they're effective period. I have faith things will become more consistent and up to date with the times and stick to what the town has become accustomed to, but consistency is key. Have the ladies in the back all make the same icing and apply it the same way. Teamwork makes the dreamwork, and customer service is important. Keep up the great work Gary. What happened here??? We got a nutsub and a glazed donut this morning, so very bad, nutsub was very dry, the shape of the nutsub was different didn't taste good at all, the glazed donut extreme dry a hardly any glaze at all they seemed to be days old and today is Monday we were there around 9 am, at .95 cents each not worth it. I think they changed recepies or something, not good at all. Nothing like the old Heyerly's we won't be going back, and we live right here in town, if you live far away, it's not worth the drive anymore.ok update, we also got a pecan roll. Oh my gosh sooooo over baked extreme hard and dry. They all left a very bad after taste in your mouth. The new owner has changed everything here they were the worse doughnuts we have ever...

This stop wasn’t in the plans for the day. After spotting them as we drove by, we turned around to go in. Reminded me of the old-time bakery I so fondly remember as a child. What a wonderful bakery. It was after noon and there will still many choices available. We chose four different options knowing we would not be eating them until the next day. 24 hours later and they were still fresh and delicious. So thankful we stopped.
