Amore Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Ottumwa

When we walked in the restaurant was pretty quiet and only had people sitting at a few tables. It took probably about 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge my husband and I. Once seated it took about another 10 minutes before anyone came to take our order for our drinks. Which also took some time to receive and for them to take our food order. We wouldn't have cared about the wait so much had they been busy, but the wait times with little other business was hard not to take note of. The food took quite some time to get to our table as well and while the food we were served LOOKED good, it was very disappointing, especially for the prices they were charging. The rolls they served prior to our meal being brought to our table were hard as a rock and so we didn't even bother trying them. The chicken we both added to our orders seemed like it was boiled and not baked as the server insisted, it was very bland and the texture was what led us to believe it was boiled. When we got to Amore Italian I was pleased by the style of the decor and built-in wooden bar but the wobbly and rather uneven ground made the tables less enjoyable. The 'Please wait to be seated' sign is slightly misleading since servers would just tell you to sit wherever you'd like. Our server was very nice and spoke soft. The menu was a little confusing with its weekday 11am-3pm lunch menu showing alot of main menu and pasta items sold for cheaper only on those days at the time which was confusing when it came to ordering (I think offering the lunch menu when it's available would help save customers alot of time with decided on meals). It was only a 15-20 minute wait before our food was completed and while it looked and tasted fairly good I disagree with the high price range (I got Lasagna|15.59 and the Meat Balls|10.39 as a side).
