So happy we finally have a location here in KC! I went to the soft opening day on June 11, 2025 pretty late in the day like around 12:45-1PM and they were almost sold out of every bread!! It was crazy, but to be expected. I went again the following Saturday around 9:40AM (Hours are 9AM - 2PM daily) and there was already a line out the door to enter! It was very orderly and controlled. Everyone was patient to wait in the same line to the check out registers where you can order drinks, cakes, and other desserts from the showcase in front of the store. The place is a bit small, with 4 tables that sat about 10 people total. Everything was super organized and clean aside from being extremely busy! There are two kiosk near the front door which were not functioning yet. The workers were very friendly and welcoming. I got the chance to be helped by Megan at the front register, and even met the General Manager. Super nice ladies. The first time I visited, I didn't get much bread since the options were slim. So I ordered a drink: Green Milk Tea, and forgot to tell them to customize my sugar level to 30% sweet since I do not like my drinks to be too sweet at the standard 100% sweetness level. The barista ladies were very accommodating to remake the drink for me! I also ordered a second drink: Strawberry Matcha Latte which was perfect at 50% sweet for my mom. The second visit, I ordered the Oolong Milk Tea at 50% and thought it was still too sweet for me, so 30% sweet is the perfect level. If you don't know what sweetness level will be right for you to start off at, I recommend doing the standard 100%, but if you're not too fond of super sweet drinks, try it at 50% first or even 30%, then can ask to add more sugar, if needed. A few breads I highly recommend trying if you're new to Asian breads are the Hawaiian Chicken, Spicy Sausage, Sugared Cream Cheese Brioche, Ham and Cheese, and Salted Butter! Obviously there are more I still need to try, but those are my top favorites that I make sure to get! I will definitely be back to try more breads, sweets, and drinks they offer! Read moreWe visited 85°C Bakery Cafe, part of a popular Taiwanese bakery chain, in Overland Park (near Pan Asia, Aldi, and Old Navy) on a Saturday around 3:30 pm. It was still fairly crowded with limited seating, which shows how popular this spot is.
Ordering is easy with kiosks, especially for drinks (coffee, iced lattes, teas, boba/milk teas, smoothies, frozen drinks, and fruity sparkling bubbly seltzers). They also have an impressive selection of cakes—available whole or by the slice.
The bakery section is set up with trays to grab individually wrapped items, and the staff is constantly baking, wrapping, and restocking, which keeps everything fresh. I love that the pastries are light, flaky, and not overly sweet.
Here’s what I tried, with ratings:
Potato Croquettes (4/5) – Two per pack. Crunchy garlic breadcrumb crust with potato, corn, and veggie bacon filling. Light and savory, though I’d prefer more filling.
Spinach Kale Danish (3/5) – Flaky bread with spinach, kale, and cheese. Good flavor but on the lighter side.
Croissant Crunch (5/5) – Buttery, flaky, topped with almond slivers. Perfect sweetness and texture.
Coffee Cruffin (5/5) – Croissant-muffin hybrid with macchiato cream filling. Crisp outside, deliciously creamy inside.
Coconut Raisin Tart (5/5) – Coconut cake with flavors of a macaroon on a buttery crust. Didn’t taste raisins (a plus for me).
Chocolate Croissant (1/5) – Not bad in execution, just not my style (a chocolate stick inside instead of drizzle).
Tiramisu Cake – Haven’t rated yet; my parents didn’t care for it, but I’ll hold off until I try it myself.
💲 Portions are on the smaller side, so not really for sharing, but perfect for tasting through unique Asian flavors alongside familiar classics. Prices are very affordable, which makes sampling fun.
Overall: 4/5. A solid Taiwanese bakery with lots of variety. A few misses for me, but I’ll reserve the right to bump this higher once I try more cakes and drinks. This will definitely be my go-to bakery...
Read moreBEFORE YOU GO- FOR PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES: Make sure you are careful and you ask for reassurance from an employee if you are unsure about the pastries you get. I grabbed some what I thought were going to be choclate chip cookies (THE "CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES" SIGN WAS DIRECTLY AND RIGHT UDERNEATH THE COOKIES I GRABBED) and ended up grabbing the wrong ones because they were placed incorrectly. They had walnuts- I'm allergic. Unfortunately I didnt even notice there were walnuts until I took one bite. I am okay despite everything that happened. BUT PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL. It could've been worse. I just worry for others who get worse reactions than I do. Probably just good to order from their drinks if you have nut allergies. I understand maybe its easier as a business not to label the packages the pastries are in as well; (especially since there is signage thats supposed to help and guide,) but I feel like maybe even if I grabbed the wrong ones (Since they were misplaced,) and if they were labeled at least it definitely could have been prevented. It was also kind of concerning that when I called the bakery to try to help them out by warning them; A man answered the phone and he didn't really sound kind. It seemed like he was trying to invalidate me at first by telling me that choclate chip cookies don't have nuts (like yes your right and I know they don't- thats EXACTLY WHY I wanted them.) He didn't sound like he was actually sorry (he did apologize- i am NOT taking that away) but it just sounded very robotic and monotone. It just left a bad taste in my mouth and it makes me wonder if this has happened before. And it sucks because I loved their strawberry matcha....
