The only reason this review is even getting a 3 star is because the food was absolutely fantastic.
But my experience here was less that fine. I am writing this review at my table right now because that's how much free time I have since I never get to see a waiter. If that doesn't give you enough information I'll give some details below.
It's my wife and Is' 3rd year wedding anniversary. Cheese cake factory is general a great place to go for us for things like this, my wife and I to get just out of the house and spend some extra money on yummy food. Except today apparently. We were seated a few minutes before 2:10pm and no wait staff came to greet us until I waived down a roaming waiter who was checking every table around us, except ours, at around 2:19pm. Now we'd had more than enough time to figure out our full selection, so we order basic sodas an appetizer and 2 meals. Now this person was not waiting for my area, so we never saw this person again, he provided a half excuse saying our waitress was apparently dealing with a manager at the time and that's why they never came by.
Now as I said above the food was amazing, everything tasted great and actually came out in a timely fashion. But there was still a disturbing lack of wait staff. We didn't get our first refill until our drinks were empty for a bit and our meals had already arrived, around 2:35pm, which is when we met our areas waiter for the first time. This isn't the slowest experience ever but throughout the rest of the meal we never once received any kind of check in from our waiter until our food was gone and even then we had empty plates waiting for the waiter until 2:59pm. From here the boxes and check again took abysmally long not getting to us, not until, 3:07pm.
Now with all that said, why were there not systems to warn other waiters that a table had been seated but the main waiter was away? Why were managers pulling wait staff off the floor for extended period of time if they are understaffed leaving guests confused and unattended to? And why still, even after the waiter returns to her floor duties does it take so long for anything to get done?
The management and wait staff at this place needs a retraining, in my opinion. As well they need to update their systems of communication between floor members. I'm aware this isn't a fast food joint. But I was here for a over full hour, when based on how quick the food did come out, we could have been out of here in less than 45 minutes. Read moreThis past Saturday my family and I decided to go here to celebrate my mother’s birthday. I booked my reservation on Wednesday for July 12 @2pm for “Lunch”. Saturday came and I called that morning to make sure they saw my notes that I had written to add two more people. While on the phone with them I was told that they can’t accommodate my party even before adding people (the 1st phone call). Then a couple of hours later they called back saying they still couldn’t accommodate my party unless we put our name on the waitlist and come in earlier than our 2pm reservation time. So we arrived there around 1:50pm and we checked in. However, they repeatedly pushed back our time for other parties arriving. We went from 2pm to 3pm - they told us we would be seated at 3.... then 3:30pm came and ZERO communication about being seated between 3 and 3:30. The front desk staff was so rude to me until my dad had to step in to get results!! We were finally called to the front to be seated only to watch them push our stack of menus over to seat 3 other groups although we had been waiting longer until I GLARED, and my mom glared too, at the person doing the shuffling of the menus. We were seated finally at the back of the restaurant with our party of 9 close to 4pm! Thankfully, our server was amazing - and we made sure we weren't rude to her because it wasn’t her fault. She made my mother’s birthday dinner better. I have never received such poor treatment from The Cheesecake Factory before. Although it’s my Mom’s favorite restaurant in Overland Park Kansas, she said she may not go back there for a really long time, if ever.
I want to reiterate that It was mainly the staff that handled reservations and seating that particular day that treated us disrespectfully. Also, I thought at least a manager would come over to talk to us but no upper management checked on us way in the back. After being seated I left to go wash my hands and when I returned I was looking at the menu, as our waiter, sorry, I didn't catch his name, came to inquire about my drink; I was already looking for, but only saw the specialty drinks not the regular drinks/ lemonades, teas or sodas, he was very impatient and kinda huffy/ rude, standing with his hands on one hip and the other on the wall while waiting, then he starts recite them for me also in a huffy tone as well, my sister already had her water, so notably this was at least his second trip to our table, but that doesn't give reason to have an attitude while waiting for a drink order! It was after the lunch hour between 130-2, so they weren't that busy! I ordered the Louisiana chicken pasta and it was just OK, I could taste the oil more than anything, my sister had the chicken medairra, excuse the spelling, and my son had the Mac and cheese burger as he wanted something interesting, both said their food was good! No cheesecake, cause we had purchased it; the RED VELVET, from take out, the night before, and I will say it was DELICIOUS! Water was refilled repeatedly, but not once was I asked if I wanted anther lemonade, and my glass was off to the side, he even glanced at it a few times!
