Although we had to choose at least 1 star in order to post a review, we would have rated our experience a -5 if we could.
We have never had a more frustrating and disappointing experience with a handyman service. What makes the overall experience even worse is that we contracted for service as part of a purchase made at Costco. While we enjoy shopping at Costco, their "recommended service" leaves much to be desired and frankly, damages their brand. If they can't coordinate with competent professionals, why should we trust anything else they recommend to me?
We purchased two large TVs, a 75” and an 82”, at the Overland Park, KS, Costco location. Because the TVs were extremely heavy, and we are getting older, we added Costco's recommended handyman service to install the TVs at the time of purchase. We knew the TVs were larger than standard, so we paid for 2 people to do the installation - extra cost, but necessary to do the job right.
Here's where everything went wrong. We NEVER had 2 people from Costco's contracted service, Handy Premier, come to install the TVs. You would think after the first mistake and our call to find out what went wrong when only one person arrived, Handy Premier would send out two staff to do the job, as paid for.
You would be wrong. Handy Premier sent 1 staff member to do a paid-for 2 person job a total of FOUR times. Every time we called, we were assured our booking was for 2 staff. However, it appeared to be a surprise each time to the person arriving at our house that there were, in fact, supposed to be two people. And, as you can guess, a single person could not hang the TVs because they were too heavy. No matter how many times a single person came out, a single person could not hang the heavy TVs. (This is why we paid for 2 people.)
The second time we called, a service person who had arrived by himself told us he could come back in two days with another person. We assumed this meant another Handy Premier person, but no. He came with - not a second employee - but a helper who did not work for Handy Premier. (Was this helper background checked? Certified? Bonded? We have no idea.) While the helper assisted with holding the TVs, the Handy Premier staffer hung the larger TV at the wrong height which had to be corrected - drilling multiple holes into our new wall. The two then asked me (a 70-year-old woman, who had paid for 2 "recommended service" contractors) to help hold the TV (which I did, but should I have since I am restricted by my doctor from lifting weight over 30 lbs?) and then hung it crooked. When that was pointed out, we were told “the TV was level when I measured it and it is heavy” and left. That obviously had to be fixed, by another contractor from the "recommended service" in a separate visit. We called for another 2-person crew, and once again, only 1 person showed up. After calling Handy Premier while he was there and learning we would have to book once again, he told us that if we couldn't get 2 people from Handy Premier, he would bring someone with him on a different day! We booked two staff members yet again, and once again, only 1 person showed up and had no idea that there was supposed to be a second person. Fortunately, he was able to level the TV from the wall mount without having to reinstall and drill more holes in our wall.
Adding insult to injury, after numerous calls, numerous visits, incorrect and incomplete service, when we called Handy Premier to seek reimbursement for service that was not provided as paid for, we were told, "we're unable to process a refund since your appointment is already completed."
Appalling service by a terrible recommendation from Costco.
We do not recommend hiring Handy Premier for any service. Furthermore, we do not recommend trusting Costco's recommendations of...
Read moreI bought some sausages from this location and the liquid they were in was cloudy so I could never bring myself to actually open and use them. Now, I live almost an hour and a half away so I commute to go to this place and there have been previous times where I was told if I ever have an issue, JUST FREEZE IT and they will be understanding of a concern when I bring it in, so I bring it back when I finally remember to bring it in and oh, its outside the freeze by date by ONE month since no one said to make sure to bring it in before that..and I bring it in and they are like, OH, we cant take this back its outside the best buy date. Are you kidding me? If I knew that I would have brought it back the week I saw the cloudiness in the liquid, but I was reassured many times over the phone that if ever I had issues they were understanding of it.... So, yeah, this is the worst location in KC area I get so sick of there snobbishness. For real, would I really just waste TWENTY DOLLARS worth of sausages and not use them by choice, NO, I genuinely thought they would stand by their products and after looking at the clear liquid in the sausages available that day, it only reaffirmed my initial concern with the cloudiness of the liquid,.....This is so ridiculous. Went to another location and they took the time to listen, unfortunately this was after we took the sausages back home where they reside in my freezer because they were the most overpriced spoiled items I have ever purchased. We also purchased some Garden of Eden Muffins that contained a sharp piece of metal from manufacturing at this store. Thanks, I can only imagined where that would have lodged in my stomach or digestive system. Thanks for the reminder that money matters more than the clients that spend 150-200 a month at your...
Read moreWe had a HORRIBLE experience just now with a crazed-seeming, definitely rude and unprofessional cashiering assistant name Nicole, approximately a 5'4" 30yo with black hair. She was assisting cashier Jon E at about 3:36p today... My 17 year old daughter and I just left this Costco location quite unhappy. Nicole lost it and yelled at me in a crescendoing voice to move my body from the front of the cart I was pushing with our purchase, a puffer jacket, our only item to purchase. It was not our turn to pay yet, another customer was paying at that time. Nicole started spraying the conveyor belt, and condescendingly told me not to put anything down, I replied we only had this jacket to purchase and did not wish to place it on a wet belt anyways. I stayed put with my purchase and Nicole proceeded to lose it yelling at me to not stand where I was in line behind my cart, she yelled 4-5 times, check your security footage. I told her, "No, I'm not moving until it's my time to pay, she proceeded to keep commanding me, by then many people stopped to watch her spectacle and irrate verbal fit towards me. She kept also yelling in my face literally, "I thought you didn't know where to go" repeatedly. I asked Jon for a manager, he pointed out Edwina. Crazed Nicole rushed over like a young child before I could walk over to make my complaint with Edwina, Adm Manager, and Nicole was again ranting about me not heeding her irrational commands of me. I'm a 55yo woman and mother, shopping with my young adult daughter, we did not deserve this insult, harassment and irrate tantrum thrown our way. The manager was kind, spoke as a professional, but sadly we saw her put Nicole back on the line, this we take great issue with. Perhaps Nicole could benefit from your random drug tests, she was...
