I've tried the zebra mocha in the past and thought it was overly hyped by the reviews here. Apparently, according to past digital receipts, I've also tried the dulce de leche, Mexican mocha, and chai, which were probably nice enough though nothing really memorable. Their green tea and chamomile tea are delicious, though, as well as the apple cinnamon pastry. The mango ginger scone, from when I had it in 2021, as I remember, was also good. This is a nice spot to take some tea or coffee and do some work, except when there are obnoxious patrons in the shop. I came here yesterday, 06/06/23, and was able to get a good amount of work done. The shop closes at 7 pm, so I assumed I would be able to work with reasonable peace until that time. Alas, at about 6:30 pm, there was a group that came and started setting up for some kind of gathering- and that would have been alright, except this group paid no mind to the fact that not everybody in the shop was in their group. They started putting up audio equipment literally around the table where I was seated; somebody started playing on a keyboard and singing a few lines about Jesus (I am Christian myself- I don't have a problem with Jesus, but the actions of this group were very inconsiderate and, ironically, un-Christian-like), and the group was just really talking loudly among themselves in the shop. I don't know if they had the place officially reserved from 6:30 pm on, but management should have made that clear for all patrons, regular and new, or else just close the place for the day, if you have someone who officially reserved the place. The last time that I came here before yesterday was in 2021, and I didn't return for a long time. Funnily enough, in 2021, there was this gentleman (a patron?) who seemed to be using the shop as his office and was talking loudly on the phone, and nobody was asking him to respect the peace of the other patrons. I feel like it's management who could take care of that task the best, but it did not take...
Read moreOver a period of a couple of years, I have visited Revo coffee repeatedly. Both the locations off of 135th Street, and the one off of 87th Street in Lenexa. Over all I would give the business high marks. The only negative thing that I would say is that there is a single barista (Courtney) that was consistently rude and overtly hostile toward me. The memory that stands out is when I came in to study one day, I walked up to the counter to get my usual order and she asked me if I was studying on how to be a decent human being. Then proceeded to berate me for not tipping her. This was after months of her making rude, hostile and cutting remarks to me on a regular basis. For me that was the breaking point and I did talk to the owner about it a short time later(The business has switched owners since then). Regrettably, he did not do much about it. This is deeply unfortunate because a single bad employee turned an otherwise good business into an unpleasant experience. Under normal circumstances I would never advocate that an employee be terminated, but in this case cutting that particular employee lose would go a long way toward improving the customer experience. Just a final clarifying statement. My comments are primarily aimed at the location off of 135th. My only complaint with the location off of 87th street is that I wish they were open past 5pm, but that is a...
Read moreI hate to criticize, especially when it's a small business. Despite this, I had a remarkably bad experience. I visited Revocup for the first time today and was first struck by the lack of ambience. The walls were almost bare, the tables and chairs were cheap, and the lobby was filled with Christian music being played at an annoyingly high volume. This doesn't always correlate to bad coffee so I remained hopeful. As I browsed the varieties of beans and asked the employee about the espresso they use, I was given very brief, rude responses as though I had no idea what I was talking about. My drink was made and that's when I lost all hope. The latte had very coarse foam complemented by some tiger striping (sometimes indicative of grinding too fine). The foam was bitter and the drink tasted horrible overall. There was little body, as the coffee relied almost solely on over-roasting. I choked down the rest of my drink only to find a generous helping of coffee grinds in the bottom of my cup (also indicative of grinding too fine). I'm not sure if I came on a bad day or if this over-roasted, overextracted nightmare is a daily problem here. I would suggest choosing a different spot if you'd like nicer staff, more ambience, and MUCH...
