Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Overland Park

First time visiting a Tropical Smoothie Cafe. I went through the drive thru. The menu is expansive. I chose a strawberry banana smoothie (I forget what it is called), a Cuban sandwich (absolutely delicious) with a side of Apple Slaw because they were out of chips. The girl at the drive through seemed apathetic. Must have been having a bad day. Not rude by any means, but not super friendly either. Probably shouldn't be working the window. The girl who made my sandwich and brought it to me was smiley and friendly. The food was great! The smoothie was really good, but this place gets a great rating from me because of the sandwich. The Cuban was fresh, warm and had plenty of meat and cheese in it. The flavor was perfectly balanced with the mayo, mustard and thick cut, sandwich sliced pickles. A truly satisfying sandwich! Mango smoothie was nothing special. It's definitely fresh, organic, so yeah, good - but nothing stood out. I had the Caribbean Jerk Chicken Bowl, and it should have been renamed to Caribbean Jerk Salad, because it's 90% romaine lettuce, 5% chicken and 5% rice. Super healthy tasting, as expected, but what hurts here is the awesome jerk sauce they used, being delicious with the rice - then being non-existant when globs of lettuce take over. In the end, the bowl just tasted like a salad without dressing. Terribly disappointing because like I said, that sauce is actually legit spicy - which you just don't get anywhere else. To be fair, the sauce did not taste like anything like carribean though, it did taste like a spicy bbq sauce instead. I'm not complaining because it was good - but if you're expecting true carribean jerk flavors, you won't get it. First time we went here though, and will most likely give something else on...

To start, this location is always really slow. When I pulled up to the window it took about 5 minutes until they came to the window so I could pay. Then had to wait probably another 10 minutes to get my order. The food and smoothies have also been really bad the past few times I’ve been. The banana chia boost smoothie I got once wasn’t even fully blended, so it was like drinking ice and peanut butter chunks. I recently went back in hopes it would be better but this time my smoothie was pure liquid. I got the new strawberry chia lemonade smoothie and it takes like strawberry flavored water. And now the food… Recently I got the avocado grilled cheese, and it is far from that. The cheese is hardly melted and the bread is cold and crunchy like it had been sitting out before I received it. Ive gone back a few times in hopes things would be better, but if I go to Tropical Smoothie again, it will not be to...
