So, I had just left a gym and was heading back home. Time was 4-15pm on 7/25. I was in traffic and looked to my right to see zero cars in the drive-thru at this recently opened Captain D's location and since my wife expressed her interest in trying one of their new Crab cakes, I swung in to get her one. I pull up to the drive-thru and glance over the menu but didn't see the crab cake, although it is advertised on their marquee. I wait a few minutes and so far, no acknowledgement. I speak to the ordering wall and say a long "Hellooo". I wait a minute. No acknowledgement. I speak once again to the wall, this time with a "Hello?" and wait another minute. Still yet, no acknowledgement. So I back up and park and walk in. Strike 1. What do I see when I walk in? I see 3 employees standing to the right of the entry door on the inside talking, and a male and female in the kitchen area. One girl asks "Hi, Can we help you?" and I respond with "Is there no one in the drive-thru?" to which she replies, "No, I'm off so no one's there." Strike 2. You mean to tell me that management allows no coverage in the drive-thru when an employee gets off their shift? Me thinks not but maybe Captain D's operates in this manner. I ask how many crab cakes are in an order and I am told "One" so I order one and am handed a number to wait. While waiting, after about maybe 3 minutes, 2 women and a child walk in and place their order and walk away to the soda station. A moment later the persons cooking start placing trays of food on their window for the guests. These were large platters of food with fish, fries, looked like a hush puppy or two and some other food and they are delivered to the women and child who came in a few minutes after me, with my 1 crab cake order. I asked the employee who delivered the food, "How is it they get all that food before I get my one crab cake when they came in after me?" and her reply was "Because it takes more time to prepare the crab cake." With that reply, I envisioned a nice, lump crab cake that would please my wife's desire to try it. A moment later the cook places the crab cake on the window and the employee takes it and hands me a greasy box with a crab cake inside. Not in a bag, just the box. Strike 3. I get it home and my wife walks in shortly after me and I tell her I picked her up a crab cake for her to try. She opened the box and what do we see? We see a crab cake patty. A pre-formed, pre-fabricated, probably frozen patty that was, I could only assume, deep fried, given the oily box that was handed to me. If there such a thing as a strike 4, this is where it happened. My wife looks at it, then looks at me and declares, "I'm not eating that, It looks nasty." I couldn't have agreed more. Well, we really wanted to like this place but after my maiden voyage here, Neither myself, nor my wife, nor my friends, nor my family will return. I think management really needs to evaluate some things here and get them fixed, for the sake of other patrons who may enjoy bad service and a horrific crab cake. First impressions are vital and this one reminded me to stick to either preparing my own seafood or visiting an establishment that does not include...
Read moreBatter dipped fish was soggy, under cooked, not flaky or crunchy. French fries were extremely salty; must have been prepared the way the cook preferred them. The meal was horrible. I waited in the drive thru forever. There was 4 or 5 cars ahead of me and each of us had a long wait at the window. The staff is not prepared for crowds, need better training. The fish was under cooked because it wasn't fried at the maximum time. This was obvious because there was wet batter under the soft crust. Each batch has to be monitored and the cooks need to pay attention to detail. BTW, the Cole slaw is dry and tasteless. When you're inside you hear the chef's commercial about the famous slaw recipe. Well, I don't think it is prepared the way they intended. Don't know if it's delivered from a site where it's prepared or if done at the restaurant; either way, it's just horrible. The St. Charles Rock Road location is the same way. I had to return 3 batter dipped meals there last year. Get it together because I think complaints for under cooked foods should go to the health department. I'm extremely dissatisfied and should do that but giving you a chance.
Dear owner. Your scores are low. What are you doing to improve them. I'm sitting in the drive thru now 3 minutes. No activity with car in front of me. I waited 2 minutes to place order. No one acknowledged me, no I'll be with you or nothing I had to say hello before someone said go ahead with your order. Now the order has been placed and it looks like the order might be coming but then I'm told they're out of green beans did they not know that before? . The young lady waiting on me at the window is on her cell phone waiting for my order leaning on the counter, really! The whole experience is 9 & a half minutes. Employees usually get a rush at this time they should be prepared very dissatisfied I wish I could give you 0 Stars
You need to be inside your restaurant to see what's going on. You can't continue to take money from customers. Your staff is not trained well enough to brand your product.
Try sending some secret shoppers to the restaurant. Inside and the drive thru to get their feedback. Pieces of my catfish was not done, sort of wet and only flaky on the ends. Then it had this hard unbelievable crunch that was different from the last time like it was fried to fast and hard. I will not go back to captain d's ever! Too much is wrong there. You need people who care about more than a check, some quality dedicated...

I ordered the two-piece fish and fry special for 5.99 I added on 6 butterfly shrimp for a $1.99. I wanted a large drink but she told me she only had small and medium so I ended up getting a medium and that came to $12.29
I'm eating the fish but I'm not sure if it's really chicken it has the consistency of chicken. But I know I ordered fish. So this Captain D's doesn't know the difference between chicken and fish... Because they definitely gave me chicken. The fries were okay. But the hush puppies have no taste no onion no celery no seasoning.... Nothing.
Original Review If it could go wrong, it did twice... I ordered a 3-piece fish fry meal with fries and green beans a 10-piece butterfly shrimp and a large drink. The total came to 23.69.
My order sat in the window so long that by the time I got, it was cold. They did not give me all of my shrimp that I ordered, The green beans we're terrible period. They had ham and onions but absolutely no seasoning and tasted like, they came straight from the can and the green bean water that was in the can. The macaroni and cheese with some horrible as well the pasta was overcooked and I'm not sure if the yellow Sauce it was in is even cheese... If it weren't for the fact that I was starving y hungry I would...
