Place was empty and ordered sampler platter, smoked cabbage and fried green tomatoes. My 66 year old husband is a talker. While waiting for our food. I ordered a Long Island tea. It was too sweet so I ordered a beer. My husband ordered a beer and had 3 shots of fireball. The bartenders talked to us but the owner who walked past us several times not speaking. His. Bartenders said he was moody. My husband tried to talk to him about his car and the cabbage. We were blasted on fb for being racist. My husband had 2 Corvette’s and we love cabbage. We both have just as many brown/black friends as we do white. We didn’t know corvettes and cabbage was racist. We had and are still having threats. I called him the next day without my husband knowing and he said he was busy. I went over there before he opened and I wanted to know why he thought we are racist. He said my husband was stumbling and talking about his corvette and cabbage being racist. I’m 62 and I told him you were upset behind we got there and we weren’t racist. I said I’ll shake ur hand because this was what we do. He declined. I hope this has brought him more business. He did talk me owners don’t talk to their customers, that’s why he has manager. I had high hopes , but wound up disappointed. The server brought my friend’s meals and told me they had to cook more noodles and it would be another 10 minutes. About 10 minutes later, she asked if I would like to have my salad. She again asked what dressing (for the 4th time). My food arrived after my friends finished their meals. When I got my shrimp and fettuccine, it was good. However, the shrimp were nothing like what was advertised on Facebook. There were 7 popcorn size shrimp. The server brought my bill while I was still eating. I had to ask for a box twice. I was never offered a refill on my drink. I doubt I will be back. The vibe inside was average. I did not find staff to be attentive or overly friendly. I should also mention the shrimp and fettuccine were on special tonight, so I find it odd that they ran out of noodles at 6 pm. Food was delicious. Hot and fresh. Great portion sizes. My favorite appetizer is the fried green tomatoes. They are so good. The smoked sample is worth the price. The oxtails were a hit. Cocktails and a nice selection on the menu. Service was good. The owner checked on us both times we were there. The atmosphere was relaxing. Accommodating to our group. I called ahead and let them know we were bringing a group which included kids. They were prepared for us. Had a section reserved for us. Plenty of options to keep guests entertained. A couple of arcade games, pool, virtual golf, Cornhole, music, TV, etc. Our new go-to when visiting Owensboro. I highly recommend Shiloh's...
