The quality of the meals shabby and the customer service left much to be desired. My wife and I ordered the house salad topped with brisket and chicken and ate inside of the restaurant for the first time. A couple of weeks later we ordered the same salads topped with the brisket and another with chicken as "take-out". When we opened the salad containers at home, we were dismayed. There was hardly any chicken compared to what we had received inside the restaurant itself. Also, the chicken was super dry, hard, chewy, and unpleasant overall. Another time we ordered two full slabs of ribs (which we had previously enjoyed inside the restaurant) and they were over smoked and very black in color owing to an extreme covering of their salty spice mix. It was applied like a thick blanket over both rib orders. We suffered through one order at home and eventually actually disposed of the other take-out order. When we called the restaurant to see what they would do for us, the female manager said we needed to bring the meals back to the restaurant so they could examine them. How disrespectful and short-sighted when you consider the terrible PR effect on a customer. Totally unacceptable and demeaning to expect a returning customer to drive back (a 40-minute round trip) only to have a spotlight placed on their partially eaten take-out meal -- an inspection that "may" result in compensation or just a critique in disagreement with you, the customer! It's also disrespectful, unyielding and short-sighted -- not a good look for any restaurant, especially one that has just recently opened its doors in Oxford!! We are reluctant to return because of the inconsistency of the food overall and, importantly, the poor treatment by "management". We are very let down by these experiences as we were initially thrilled that a new restaurant had opened for business here and because we love smoked ribs, brisket, etc. Instead of earning our loyalty, they've alienated us as future customers and earned this...
Read moreWe just got done with an amazing family vacation at Myrtle Beech. It was everything you could have asked for… Sunshiny beeches, the ocean breeze, and many attractions along the way. But our best stop along the way… Was probably “Booth’s Barbeque” of Oxford, Mississippi. This was recommended by our kind hearted staff at the hotel we were staying at and boy were we NOT DISAPPOINTED at all! The food was amazing! (possibly the best BBQ I’ve ever had) Each and every member of the staff was kind hearted and professional. I couldn’t even tell who the manager was because all of the members took the highest level of pride and ownership in serving the food which they prepared. The passion to serve us was so genuine and the pride that the employees took in their quality and service was unlike anything I had ever seen before. And if you have a family, this will definitely be the place where you want to take them as they have the largest outside eating area you could possibly imagine with many activities for family members of all ages such as ping pong, a stage for live music and an outside playground (remember those form the 90’s?) Weather you live in the area, or are just passing through Oxford, you need to make “Booth’s Barbeque” your ONE STOP for your family’s culinary cravings and memory making extravaganza. Calling “Booth’s Barbeque” “just another restaurant” is like calling Buc-ees “just another gas station.” They have only been open for a few months, but I highly anticipate that within a few years, there will be a “Booth’s Barbeque” along every major highway across America. For while most restaurants may strive to be bigger and more successful than McDonald’s, “Booth’s Barbeque” has the capacity to be bigger and more successful...
Read moreWe were driving home to Birmingham after a weekend trip to Clarksdale, MS and saw a billboard for Booth’s BBQ. My husband loves to check out barbeque restaurants whenever we are on the road, so knew we had to make the stop after seeing the billboard. As soon as we walked in the door, the staff were very welcoming asking if it was our first time coming in. They explained the cafeteria style walk through to select your sides , along with explaining the plates available and the turkey not listed on the menu, (which I would love to try on another visit). The jalapeño Mac and Cheese has a nice subtle kick to it, not too hot at all so don’t be scared to try. The beans unfortunately for me didn’t impress. A little too sweet for my liking and despite being able to see opinions, peppers, and meat in the beans, they had little flavor to the other than the sweetness, which was very odd. Now to the main event, that brisket. We went with the lean and let me tell you it was soooo good! You can taste the smoke in the meat, the onions and pickle add a nice addition with the sauce. There are 3 sauces on the table in a yellow, red, and brown squeeze bottle. You’re at your own to test these out, no labels or guidance on what the flavors are, however I did try one that had a little kick to it that I really liked. We had the blackberry cobbler for dessert, not very impressive. There wasn’t a lot of flavor to this, the crust being a little over cooked. Overall, would definitely recommend and hope I have an opportunity to travel through again to...
