A Little Piece of Heaven *Cake Studio* — Restaurant in Oxnard

The owner of this establishment is horrible to deal with and the people that work there don’t know anything about customer service as well. I have never dealt with such a poorly run place. My daughter ordered a birthday cake from here and was told that she could pick it up at 10:00am, drove the 40min. drive to get it and waited for 30min.(to a closed up shop) with NO information, prior or otherwise, until finally getting ahold of someone through their instagram account saying that the cake wouldn’t be ready until 11:00 and to come back…no heads up, no explanations. She unfortunately was unable to do so, as she had a prior engagement. They didn’t contact any further until the owner decided to reach out to her at 2:00pm, and said that she could deliver the cake to her. When she delivered the cake at 4:00 she handed it over and asked for the other half of the payment and we asked if there was any way that she would be able to offer a discount on the cake due to the inconvenience of situation, as they said it would be done at 10, my daughter drove all the way out there to pick it up with no word that it wasn’t even done, waited around for 30min to hear nothing back from them on top of that, and then to still wait to get it until now at 4:00pm! The owner refused to give a discount, trying to make it seem like she did us a favor driving it to us, but we thought that’s the least she could have done after EVERYTHING!!! So she tried to take the cake back out of my daughter’s hands and so at that point we decided it wasn’t worth it anymore and asked for a refund back for the deposit that she had already made on the cake. The owner, with cake in hand, said that it would take time to issue the refund and proceeded to head to her car. My daughter was trying to ask her to please refund her now, as she is leaving with her cake and also has her deposit still and would just like the refund sent back to her before she left, stating that it was sent by Zelle, so it would be easy to send it back to her. The owner proceeded to just get in her car and start it, so my daughter got in front of it to not let her leave until she got her deposit back, which took 20min, but in the end was done. Our wedding cake was 3.5 hours late. Be careful with them as they do not do what you agree on. We live in a Las Vegas and work as a wedding planner and cook and know how bakeries work and this was by far the most unprofessional business we have ever encountered. On the day of the wedding we kept calling and no one would answer because our cake was supposed to arrive by 3 pm, it was already 6pm. Finally the guy who took our initial order said, "no one wanted to take the cake because it was too big" that was not our problem since we had paid and and agreed on this service. The design itself was great however; the cake was tilting and was not crated up to standards. We agreed on no flowers for the other cakes but at least tell us to add some kind of decor so it won't look plain. Once the guy finally arrived he didn't even say anything and left. This bakery is two things, a purveyor of high-end cakes and a "to go" bakery items store. The bakery items are very reasonably priced, and they include slices of cake, cheesecake, fruit tarts, and more traditional Mexican favorites like rice pudding, 3 Leche cake, and more. The birthday and other occasion cakes are maybe 25 to 30 percent more expensive than say, Ralph's. But the product is something that you'd see in a high-end restaurant or on an expensive cruise ship.
