Girl who took our order was very helpful and nice. I have lived in oxnard since 1981 and never have I ever tried Buddy's. As kids we would always say let's try it bc that's Dad's name but alas, my parents did not raise us eating from burger joints ever. As I grew up, I moved away but when I would come to visit my parents, I still wouldn't try Buddy's bc my choice would always be TDM or Toppers. The day finally came last night when I was craving me some chili fries, a chili cheese burger, and onion rings- burger joint style. Buddy's popped into my head and I decided I would finally try them. The menu is very inexpensive with most things priced between $2-$3! We ordered a dbl chili cheese burger, trpl cheese burger, fried fish sandwich, chili cheese fries with onions, onion rings, a large fry, 2 sides of ranch dressing, and a large Jamaiica to drink. All this cost just under $25. The portions aren't big but I didn't expect them to be bc of the price. The chili is just ground beef and is kind of too dry to be a chili. You have to get at least a double patty for the burgers bc I feel like a single patty would be too thin and you would be disappointed. The onion rings were yummy and I was happy about those. The fries were thin and almost like McDonald's. I was expecting typical burger joint fries- a little thicker and meatier. The bf said the fish sandwich was good (it was the most expensive thing we ordered at $4) but nothing memorable. I was honestly hoping to love this place bc of the nostalgia it gives ne every time I drive by it on Oxnard blvd but sadly it didn't do much for me. I might go back and try it again but I'd have to really be craving...
Read moreI had a Chili Cheese Dog. It tasted like disappointment.
The chili cheese dog had a slice of cheese, seemed like a cheap Kraft slice. The chili was not spectacular and felt like a pre-packaged mix as it felt grainy and not meaty enough]. The hot dog bun was something you could pick up for cheap from the grocery store. And the sausage was a super generic and cheap variety you pick up on a budget in a large pack for a casual, low-budget gathering [cooking method at the time was something like steaming too, leading to the extra disappointment]
You almost may as well go to the grocery store and bought all of the ingredients yourself to put together and cook if you don't mind eating the same thing for several days in a row and spending the small amount of effort to cook (but obviously that isn't really a choice). The serving was obviously quite small as well. I can't really say it is the most outrageous pricing, but it definitely doesn't feel particularly worthwhile for the cost [unless you are lazy or don't like eating the same thing for several days in a row, but really want to scratch the craving
Can't speak about the other items on the menu. I probably won't...
Read moreMy vehicle was parked in the private parking lot of Buddy Burger 600 S Oxnard Blvd, Oxnard, CA 93030. I ordered my food and was sitting in their outdoor sitting area about 50 feet from my vehicle. Was roughly there for about 45 minutes and all of a sudden one of the black on black towing company trucks drives up and hooks up and lifts my car. So I run over and ask what they were doing? The young man proceeds to tell me “someone” called and said this car has been sitting here for long period of time. Then a few of my fiends walk up too and he changes his demeanor and says as long as we are eating here we are fine. “We are good to go” then sits my car back down. My family and I have been coming to this place sinced it opened and I think this will be the last time I eat here. I pay for my food and I can’t even sit and eat it and worry about my car being towed away. Many other places to take my business to and that’s...
