update theyve changed menu again and dont even sell what i was complaining about anymore which was their new menu. Its now a Hawaiian bbq place. For the love of god just change the name of the business. Its not the Golden chicken inn we all knew and loved.**
I wish the company would change the name. The new owners have completely changed the luoriginal recipes. The one we've all known and love for decades.
They no longer have combo meals. Everything you order has to be by el a carte. And it gets insanely expensive. 75 dollars for ordering 4 items to share with a family of 3.
God I'm gonna miss golden chicken inns yummy eggrolls they use to make.
The egg flower soup was okay but too much pepper, made it taste spicy.
The crunchy noodles for our soup was stale.
Given water with no ice.
Their sweet and sour pork are no longer those little soft breaded balls. But I do admit it was still pretty good. Just different
Their Pork fried rice was pretty great. Just different
Their green beans was pretty good!
And their beef chow fun was great as well.
Over all, the food was pretty good, but too expensive to be spending 11 to 16 dollars a plate to share.
Also the service was absolutely horrendous. Our waiter, some young woman with black hair had zero personality. She aggressively tossed our menus on our table and walked away. Took a while for her to come back and when she walks in she just stares at you and doesn't say anything. Even everytime we said thank you, she never responds. When we paid she didnt thank us for coming in. Didnt say goodbye or have a good day. Just rude and didn't make us feel welcomed at all. She looked like she was dead inside and hated her job. For that reason alone we probably won't come back, food was good tho not gonna lie. Good service is everything and if you don't got it, it makes you not wanna go back. Maybe we'll order take out...
Read moreYesterday, oct 16, was the first time i went to Golden Chicken Inn since I was young. I remember this place being the place our family would go for family dinner. It was always so delicious and consistent. Yesterday, that childhood memory of this place was ruined, and if I could give this place zero stars, I would. Upon arriving, the people were kind but immiatly there was a language barrier, which isn't a huge deal but it made it hard to communicate our order. We ordered the chow mein mix, orange chicken, and a bowl of eggdrop soup. What used to be classics for this place. We were given fried, thick wonton strips before our food came, to snack on. Something was off, they were soggy and undercooked. Not crispy at all, but we gave it the benefit of the doubt. That should have been our first red Flag. when our food arrived, they gave us no plates to eat on until we asked but they were soaking wet. Our chowmein looked odd... there was no color and flavor in the noodles, the beef was undercooked and the chicken didn't look like chicken. We were most excited for the orange chicken but it smelled bad. It smelled like it had been fermented or like the batter had been sitting out and had fermented and tasted rancid. I had to spit it out, I couldn't swallow it. Finally, when the egg drop soup was placed on our table, I was shocked at the apperance. It was a bright red in color, and it had vegetables in it? which I have never seen egg drop soup to appear that way. I felt extremely heartbroken at the food we were served. This was the first time my boyfriend had been there and I was so excited to share this childhood place of mine, with him. We were extremely disgusted, so I had to leave the food there and ask for the $30 check. I unfortunately will never be coming here again and will never...

I used to live in Oxnard as a kid and would go to the GCinn all the time with my parents. I loved the atmosphere and the food. Everything about this nearly a CENTURY old restaurant was perfect and the bar that I would judge other Chinese restaurants with.
I took my fiancé to experience it for the first time after a nice walk on the beach and a car ride full of talking up the restaurant and the food. I was excited for here to experience what I had grown to know and love as kid.
We went up those stairs that I remember dearly as a kid to an empty place. Just a young man behind the counter and semi surprised we were there.
We sat down and I noticed the menu was different, red flag. We ordered and received all our food in plastic takeout boxes. I knew something was completely off when they served our orange chicken with some bizzaro mayonnaise macaroni side that would be more at home at a Hawaiian bbq restaurant (if that bbq restaurant was mediocre too). The rest of the food (egg drop soup, beef fried rice, and fried dumplings) was extremely mid and not worth even the low prices they charged.
We both gave each other that look of understanding you get when you just want to get out of there before the night gets any worse so we paid and threw the leftovers in a trash can outside the place.
I’ve come to find out there are new owners and the menus is apparently some ridiculous mish mash of American Chinese, sushi, and Hawaiian bbq????Absolutely absurd.
Don’t believe the bot accounts, the memory of the GCinn died tonight as well as the quality of the food. This place is now unrecognizable from the quirky, kind, generous portion, fair priced and quality food it used to serve. RIP The Golden...
