Tacos were bad- bad-bad! If you want to get a stomach ache and more... Go at your own risk. I was recommended this place by a friend and I would like to think it's inflation that has cause this place to start buying cheap meat and the taste in tacos is not the same. None of the tacos I ordered had any flavor. The "carne Asada meat" was just salty but didn't taste like meat, "al pastor" was marinated but didn't have any flavor, the burrito has more rice and beans than meat but in this case was good cuz the beans had more flavor than the meat. They don't give you any lemons, radishes like other places and they only put salsa on the tacos if you asked for it when you ordered but not extra.
While we were eating there was an employee washing and/or cleaning something with "harsh strong" chemicals that the whole restaurant was penetrated with the smell. This only made our experience worse.
Definitely not coming back or giving it a second try. 2 stars because the lady at the...
Read moreJessie's El Taco de Mexico is my favorite taqueria in Oxnard - really, my favorite in Ventura county! They make big authentic burritos, and their asada is delicious. A basic burrito has meat, beans and rice, but I always add cheese, sour cream and guacamole (the elusive "super burrito"). What is unique and delightful about Jessie's burritos is the surprise pickled jalapeños buried somewhere inside. The tortilla is nicely grilled and just the right amount of crispiness and chewiness.
The restaurant is small but usually pretty clean with good air flow. There are only a couple of tables and the counter, so seating is limited, and you shouldn't count on finding a place to sit down right away. Not a problem for to go orders!
Something about the combo of meat, beans, pickles jalapeños, rice and tortilla is just better at Jessie's than everywhere else. And the queso, crema and guac take it to another level. Highly...
Read moreIt looks like a hole in the wall so I've always kind of ignored it but a number of people told me it was worth eating at so I tried to check it out. I usually ride my mobility scooter around town and the door is opening inward towards a counter and doesn't open all the way barely lose an angle so I can't fit my scooter in the door The girl was very nice and came to the door and took my order while I waited outside to take the to-go order. Got a chili relleno burrito and it was awesome. My only complaint which is personal is that it had too much rice and it was too big which would not be a problem for most people but I don't eat much and I don't like great big huge burritos but like I said most people do so they would probably find it really awesome. It was moist that cheese was melted, it was much better than some of the crappier burritos I've had at other places lately I highly recommend...
