Checked in with the patio host. Told 30/45 but be back in 30 cause people miss out on tables when they go to the beach for to long, so we walk the beach and make it back in 30 mins. After that we waited an additional 45 minutes. We get seated and waited 25 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order. We order apps right away since she took a while for her to get to us. We ordered the flatbread, wings, and a beef patty for my dog(important). We then waited 50 minutes for our food. The waitress did not check on us once. Not even a thumbs up, thumbs down thing. Just didn’t acknowledge us. We were gunna order entrees but she never made her way back round again. We saw three tables seated after us get both appetizers and entrees. During the waiting time there were thousands of dirty faced, banshee screeching, enfant terrible. They came up and grabbed my dogs face, touched our table, and were throwing sand that landed on my dog and my sister. Awful. It had the energy of a McDonald’s play place curated by Pablo Escobar. Then we get our food. It being 50 minutes, our waters hadn’t been refilled once, and never asked if we wanted food beyond the apps promoted me to ask the food runner for our waitress. I explained that we’ve had a pretty unfun time, she says to me, “Well you ordered a patty, what do you expect.” I then said well had I known I absolutely would have not order that, and you never even checked to see if we needed anything else. She didn’t seem to interested in anything I shared with her. Comes back with the check, and says the manager gave us half off, but it really just didn’t make up for the bad time. I just am not going to go back to them or Pelican in general. Food was genuinely mediocre and the quality did not remedy any of this situation. I am lukewarm to kids but this was the potato faced procreation apocalypse. Service is the worst I’ve...
Read moreWell this review was mainly done with their front management/wait list arrangement in mind. Not our server, he was awesome.
We knew there would be a wait because I had been on the phone for about 12 mins trying to make a reservation and no one answered so we went to the restaurant, put our names down on the wait list and ordered an appetizer and drinks outside and took a walk on the beach because we had been told it would be around a 45-50 min wait.
We came back and waited outside some more, after seeing lots of people being told they were next I did the line and asked when it would be our turn because by this time we were starving. The male host told us they had already called but we had missed our place we told him we hadn’t received a text or call so he went to check the phone number and realized they were calling the wrong cell.
By this time we would have to wait longer so my husband went to try to get food to go so that we could eat by the beach, the nice gentleman outside told him he was sorry but they had just closed the order window outside to just order inside to go. So we went back to the male host and he sent us to order outside, we explained we had been told to order to go inside but he refused and said if it was closed they couldn’t make our food to go, under normal wait times this would have been fine but they had made us wait for our food for 1hr and 30 mins already!
We reluctantly went to sit and our server was super nice and brought our food very quickly and when I told him what had happened he apologized and told me you can order food to go inside if we wanted.
The food is good, we always order the tsunami burger and onion rings and my boys love their root beer. If you go make sure you aren’t very hungry because they will...
Read moreThe service was good. And really tasty craft root beer. But there were few seafood options (I’m not a fan of cod), so I asked whether I could have a salmon burger rather than a regular burger. After checking with the kitchen, the server placed the order for me. She did not think to come back and tell me that not only would I be charged the $20 for the burger (which I did not get offered the chance to take home) I would be charged another $10 for the small piece of salmon on the bun. So I paid $30 for a tasty but not worth it salmon burger. We won’t be back. I guess this place is very popular because of the location and proximity to the beach, or maybe it’s the alcohol. Besides the overpriced food, the parking situation is also a problem without clear signage or parking validation. The large parking lot on the right side of the restaurant charges $10 for day use, so I’d suggest skipping that. But the parking lot directly in front of the restaurant is packed, and has very small spaces. It’s a challenging situation for anyone not driving an economy car to fit in the space without risking getting doors dented. Generous portion on my fries but not on my husband’s, who had the fish and chips. He liked his food and the pile of fries I added to his plate. Decent experience until the end, but we were left with a bad taste in our mouths when we saw the inflated check. Desserts...
