Colombo's Deli — Restaurant in Pacifica

I placed at order with Colombo's at 4:30pm on Tuesday, July 9th 2024 through their website which prompted me to their DoorDash User interface.

It turns out they closed early that day (3pm rather than 6pm like they have stated online and on their door) due to being short handed in staffing.

So I went down to the store only to find it closed!!

No big deal, right? Just come in and have them rectify the issue, right???

Nope!! I came in the next day and they said to take it up with DoorDash.

Then Doordash said to take it up with them.

I have called, emailed, and even did the website inquiry on Columbo's website to no avail.

It's a month later, and I haven't reached any resolution.

They essentially ghosted me over $48.70.

I'm never coming here again, they are overrated and Upper Crust Deli down the road 8 minutes (still in Pacifica) is better and cheaper. They also have softer Dutch crutch to. So if You're an SF Native like me you'll appreciate the difference.

Or just go over the hill to Little Luca Sandwiched which alway has the best snadwiches.

The orders placed through Door Dash application will be completely taken care of by us but this order is handed over to them as they are the owner of the authority for the payment. Only the Dasher from us will be picked to deliver the food.

My family and I have enjoyed Colombo’s sandwiches, prepared pasta dishes and delicious salads for as long as I can remember. I’ve had family members work there and I love the Colombo family. It had been a while since I had one of their sandwiches (I moved away from Pacifica but still make the trip) and time seemed to never touch this gem…until now.

Today I paid over $20 for a meat and cheese sandwich (literally meat and cheese, no condiments) on a stale, bland sourdough roll and a small bag of Fritos (since they no longer carry their wide assortment of higher quality brands). This bread did not even physically resemble the loaves I’ve known them to make for over four decades. It was worse than Safeway…and more than twice the price. I ended up throwing it out as it was just not good at all.

I just read some other recent reviews that have had similar experiences. I’m so sad. ...

Came here on a Sunday thinking mmmmm sammiches. I don't understand the 4.5 star rating of this place. I usually like mom & pop sorta places, but this place (I'm hoping it was just an off day) did not hit the spot. I don't buy the fresh baked bread gimmick of this place, b/c the bread my sandwich was made with was as tough as day or two day old bread. I had to microwave my sandwich at least 1 min when I got home to soften it. If I wanted my bread that hard, I would've just picked up a loose brick or two out of my backyard and gnawed on that all day. I'm willing to try this place again in hopes it was just an off day. I also wish their deli sliced salami was the same as the one they put in their...
