This is one of the best, if not THE best, mid-priced Mexican food places in town. Have been coming here at least once a week for the past 6 months and have yet to have a bad meal. This isn't a "fancy" place and you can't always expect to be fawned over by a dedicated server, but that isn't what this place is about. What it is about is fast, friendly service of well made, authentic Tex-Mex classic foods. Having spent most my childhood in LA, this place evokes the staple flavors and fare of so many mom-and-pop places I frequented. Small dedicated staff and cozy come-as-you-are feel. Four star food at three star prices, the portions are plentiful and consistent while the value and service are certainly up to par. Good food at good prices.

I ordered three chicken enchiladas and in a plate a dinner and the rice is super old the beans are fluorescent red for some reason and they have cubed chicken in the enchilada and the red sauce is disgusting. I don't know how this place is always packed their food is so gross. I I think they give old food to the people who are taking take out that's what I surmise. The girl at the counter is super friendly super nice but I just can't get over how disgusting this food is. Back to Mission Street for good Mexican food.

Visited la Mordida without much expectations and was gladly surprised by the kindness of the staff at the counter as well as the quality of the food. Their al pastor was rich and and flavorful, and their carne asada was much more tasteful than the average Mexican shop. The cheese they use in nachos and quesadillas was good but a bit too bland, it was probably the only ingredient that we didn't find top class. Oh, and they have free chips and salsa, what's not to like?

POTATO TACO, OH HOW I LOVE THEE

First potato taco experience! Best thing ever!!

Unfortunately our overall experience at LaMor wasn't fabulous, but my crispy potato taco was so good. It's too bad I couldn't put any salsa on it because it was so watered down. I think my husband was a little envious of the crunchy potato taco and he's usually not much of a non-meat guy. But the soft tacos we had with chicken and carnitas just weren't very good.

The shells were fresh and that's a big plus, but the meat on the inside of the street-style tacos was a little fatty and we really didn't enjoy the taste. The chips were nice and fresh but the salsas (both regular and hot) were so watered down it was difficult to get much salsa on the chips. And the times we did it was a dripping mess all over the table.

The lady working was super nice and even came over to refill our chip basket, even though we didn't have a big order. She had a really friendly smile. The place was overall very clean - well, not the top of our table as we got up to leave! I'd go back for another potato taco if I were around here. For sure! But I'd prob bring my...

I've been here many times and it's been consistently good. Today was a different experience altogether. Ordered the carnitas plate and was very excited to enjoy it.

Plate arrived and looked delicious. The tortillas are hand made and I was excited to build a "taco". That's when I noticed the carnitas were oily, not crispy and juicy, but soggy. Undeterred I kept building but in my first fork full i found a 1 inch square of plastic packaging. Thin and clear plastic that would be used to package meat.

I'm not upset or grossed out, but want to bring it to their attention. I show the person at the counter and she says it's an onion. It's clearly plastic. I show her I can't rip it easily, it's onion she says. She is now eyeing me with disdain, it's plastic, i can't even bite through it. One more time she says it's onion and i give up and leave, uneaten meal on the table.

TL/DR: Food is ok, but Carnitas are soggy. Service is subpar.

Needless to say, i will...

I attempted to eat lunch here today with my friend. I ordered sopa de Res and my friend had the Chile Verde plate. It was a dilemma to even order. The cashier didn't comprehend that I wanted a Chile Verde plate, not a burrito. The cook over heard and corrected the order. My friends plate seemed decent enough. He said the beans tasted spoiled. I finally got my soup. If I would've only taken a picture. It was gross. It looked like it was days old. The vegetables were all mushy. What was supposed to be tender beef was a big blob of fat! I immediately told the cashier. I said there is absolutely no meat. She looked at me and shrugged her shoulders. She told me, I don't know sometimes there is meat and other times I don't know. We walked out. I felt ripped off that we even spent $40 there. We will Never be back. This establishment does not value it's customers. At least this was...
