My family and I (party of 8) attended the Easter Brunch. We had a reservation at 11:00am, the first seating for the day. Upon arriving and being seated our water glasses were dirty with a film and lipstick. When asked for new glasses was told that they did not have anymore and they would just run these through the dishwasher and bring them back. We then asked for the water glasses that were filled at another table that was not occupied. We were told that someone will be seated there shortly and she is unable to take the glasses from that table. The table remained empty throughout our entire dining experience. Do to this we then proceeded to order other beverages (coffee, tea, milk, orange juice, etc.). Once we received our bill we were supposed to see that coffee, tea and orange juice was not part of the buffet price. Even though it is not listed as part of the buffet it also not listed as an additional cost on the menu, there was not one beverage menu with costs available on the dining tables. When we asked the server. The server then proceeded to tell us that she is not allowed to tell guests that the beverages are an additional cost when an order is placed. Beverages were only ordered because it seemed to be difficult for us to receive clean glasses with water.
Four of our guests ordered Bloody Marys. A standard Bloody Mary should contain at least a few olives, celery and lime. We had to ask for olives and celery was not available.
Our reservation was made for 11:00am, the buffet was not ready until 11:30am. As we made our way to the buffet serving utensils still missing, no labels on the food, food was luke warm, salad did not have any dressing available, leg of lamb was sliced and looked like roast beef, there was no dipping sauce for the chicken tenders, poached salmon on the buffet, however smoked salmon with capers was not available until after we were done eating.
Overall the experience was unsatisfactory for the price tag of the and quality. Would appreciate a refund or at least a reduction in cost.
My recommendation look for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreeven if the food is fair and you like the patio and ambiance of the dining room ; be aware that the hostess and server of the day neither was inclined or apparently interested in following the "house rules" expected of guests to wear masks and observe social distancing. The server's first approach to our table was "Would you be more comfortable if I wore a mask ?" of course I said "yes" she said "Oh I forgot my mask" and continued to take our order. Being flippant can be deadly...denial is even worse. Every contact and approach from this server from then on she never had her mask on. There was "one" exception when she brought my styrofoam take home box at the end of my "Nervous" meal. She said, "I figured you wouldn't want me to try to throw this box from a distance and have it land on the table. "Then laughed. At no time was I anything but polite and respectful... She followed this poor unhealthy, unsafe practice at her other table too. I am now self monitoring awaiting possible symptoms of Covid 19 to develop. This is a terrible, sad concern for humanity. This was only my second outing to a public restaurant since March. It will be my last..people are dangerous and are walking land mines to the rest of us. . Lockdowns are going to happen again because of not following mandates of the state of OHIO . As a retired RN I am happy to warn others to help save lives.
They made sure to give me the $30.00 bill however( wearing no mask of course.).I gave her only a $5.00 tip ( not my usual 20%.) This is my tip to you all...don't go to Riders Inn...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA beautiful, historic B&B! Elaine, the owner, is a wealth of information. Not just about the Inn, but also about all the changes occurring in Cleveland. ....Needing a room close to my folks near Mentor Headlands, my sister and I chose this Inn for three reasons: 1) its location; 2) to experience a little bit of history; and 3) we were intrigued that it is haunted. We stayed in Courtney's Room. Comfortable and clean w/2 double beds. The room was bigger than I expected. The bath was spacious, modern and had super water pressure! Breakfast featured local eggs, bacon, delicious maple syrup for the French Toast, and fruit! Wonderful! We did not see Suzanne, the ghost, but we did sleep very soundly and peacefully! Besides staying at the Inn, my family chose to celebrate my parents 60th wedding anniversary at the restaurant on Saturday night. We were given the old Speakeasy room which afforded us privacy to laugh and be loud without disturbing the other patrons enjoying their dinners. (Two of these patrons turned out to be old friends of my parents who drove all the way in from University Heights!) The food was good! Favorites were the prime rib and the fresh fish. The potato leek soup was also a stand-out. As this was an anniversary party, we brought in a cake. Elaine went out of her way to make the cutting special for the 'newlyweds'. All in all, it was one very special evening! Kudos to Sheryl and our wait staff! You made us feel like family! Bottom line.......
