Danny's Seafood House — Restaurant in Palacios

Maybe I can save You from an aweful dining experience read on if interested.....

My friend and I traveled from Houston, Tx to see some properties in Palacios, TX and had heard that Palacios, TX is "The Shrimp Capitol of Texas"

We wanted seafood, so we stopped into Danny's Seafood and were seated outside on the water as requested and ordered ice tea and looked at the menus.....

Our waitress came back and took our order of fried shrimp and we asked for tossed salads...but she had to go ask...they don't do tossed salads, so then the waitress said...they would do tossed salads...the salads were brought out and were ok...but obvious to us they don't do tossed salads, as it was mostly cut up lettuce with a few tomatoes thrown on top....meanwhile the waitress brought out broccoli and fries entre's for the fried shrimp that was coming....both entre's were lackluster in appearance and the taste was not appealing....the the waitress brought out the shrimp except it was boiled jumbo shrimp, which we did not order....and she said that's what we ordered....We sent here packing to get us the "FRIED SHRIMP" that we originally ordered and then.....she came back and said..."We do not have fried shrimp"...and we knew they did because most everyone was eating "FRIED SHRIMP"....then the Vietnamese Owner came to our table to ask if she could help...We told her that we ordered "Fried Shrimp"....and she said...OK...We will get "Fried Shrimp" for You....so then we waited...meanwhile we asked for a tea refill and our waitress said...We don't have any tea!!.....WE SAID...WE ARE OUTTA HERE!!!.........................

We went to the front cashier the Vietnamese Lady that had promised us "FRIED SHRIMP"...was there and ready to charge us for everything ...and I explained that we have given up getting anything from this restaurant, but wanted to pay for what we had eaten...2 glasses of tea and 2 tossed salads....she said...but your shrimp is coming sir!!

I told her that we would not be staying for the supposed "Fried Shrimp"...so then she said we owed for everything!!!

I informed her that we would only pay for what we had eaten and she was baffled....finally..........

An older Vietnamese Gentleman came over and told her to not charge us anything....and she told us that.."You do not owe anything, sir!"

(This restaurant and the owners do not understand normal restaurant operations, so do not expect to receive any semblance of a great restaurant experience in my opinion)

I laid $20 on the counter and we left to try to find somewhere else to eat...and went Palacios Mexican Food (PMR, as it is known in Palacios)....where we had a wonderful dining experience, great food and great service!!!

Remember.....if in doubt about Danny's Seafood....I tried to warn YOU!

I do not normally give bad reviews to any establishment that really tries to get it right in the end, but Danny's Seafood is...

Worse service, really no service. The kids they have working can't seem to speak to the food or drinks and run around unsupervised and unteained. We finally discovered after seeing a wine serviced to another table that wine was an option after asking for rum/Coke and being told it wasn't an option. I suggest to my mother the 3 rita on the menu (not an option) and given a beer list. We order 2 beers and 2 waters. Then another table was delivered a glass of wine?? Never told wine was an option, it isn't on the menu. The waitress finally brought our drinks and asked if we were ready to order and we said yes, my mother told her the entrée she wanted and the waitress said she wasn't ready to take our order and would be back? So why did she ask if we were ready if she wasn't?? After a reasonable wait half our meal, 2 entrées arrived and were served. 12 minutes later the other 2 arrived delivered by a different waitress. So we were not able to enjoy our meals together. No apologies or acknowledgment. Also we were never checked on. We would have ordered more beer and wine if anyone had come back to the table despite the poor food. When we finished and still never could get our waitresses attention my husband flagged down the gentleman that appeared to be in charge for the bill. He informed my husband the printer was down and we would need to go inside to pay. Of course the wait staff had not bothered to check on us or inform us so we could pay and leave. The bill was $75 for no apps, 3 entrées and two a la carte items, two beers and a glass of wine. Not worth it for the food or the service. Save your money and dine...

From the moment my family and I walked in we were all stared at by the wait staff for minutes before we got served, once we had finally got seated we had received no service for at least another 10 minutes. (mind you this place is not packed at all) We had been skipped over once any wait staff finally came around and the table next to us got their order take and we were sitting outside first. Once we did got our food, my girlfriends order was wrong, and although the waitress did offer to take it back and fix it, she was already so fed up with the service that she decided to take the plate instead. With all that being said the food was very good, but the service was terrible and the table across the outside porch were very loud and annoying, so we decided to pack the food up, pay for the meal and take it home with us. The reason I put two stars is because other than the food actually being very good, our waitress had discounted my girlfriend's meal because the order was wrong. Most places wouldn't do that for you especially when you decide not to take the food back, so we thought that was a very nice gesture. All in all the service is terrible, but the food is good. I say the best thing to do is call the food in and take it home with you to avoid all...
