Without a doubt, this is one of my favorites bars in town! Even though the place has been reopened in 2013, is has a long long history going deep into mid-20th century. It may look as just a renovated house from outside, however it's a historical building with a modern spirit that has a lot of delicious stuff to offer.
Now, first of all, their menu has everything traditional American cuisine has to offer; from ribs and burgers to chili and pizzas. Second, all of these are made to perfection. Every single thing I ordered here was absolutely astounding! I definitely recommend trying their famous Brandt's 1/2lb burger. You can make it completely custom, choosing from a variety of breads and buns, numerous cheeses, raw or grilled onions, fresh or sauteed mushrooms and a dozen of optional toppings. Now my favorite part, every main course by itself comes with 2 sides (you can also choose those). Usually, I go with homemade coleslaw and sweet potato fries. How can you not appreciate when these are made fresh, not frozen! You can see how great they look on the pics I attached below.
Service here is absolutely fantastic! I have never felt forgotten, everyone had always been smiling and was super super nice and friendly! Great crew!
I'd also like to mention the patio, that has been added a couple of years ago, this is one of the coziest outside seatings I've ever been to! Although it's made extremely simple, it just feels so nice and comfortable being there to me... Just trust me and visit it :) Keep in mind, a lot of locals like it as much as I do, so normally its hard to get a seat there !
The only thing that looks weird to me is in the bathroom. On the picture down below, you can see that the urinal is literally 3 inches to the toilet, I mean, c'mon... there is no way 2 guys can use it simultaneously, so what's the point of having it at all ?! Well, my guess is that it is there just for fun lol
A great thanks to the owners, from their website I found out there are two gentlemen who revived the place falling into the bankrupcy, you guys did a great job and kept a well-known place for at least few more...
Read morelet me tell you first off I'm not a coleslaw guy but I'm really not a big beans guy so I ordered the coleslaw for a side. there's a reason why I'm telling you this before I say anything about the meal. this is what coleslaw is supposed to taste like. this place is well over a 2-hour drive to my house but I'm coming here every time I want coleslaw. I've never had coleslaw like this. it's supposed to taste like this. it's not watery or too spicy or to blend it has the right amount of crunch and I just don't understand why I can't order just the bowl of coleslaw if I can order a bowl of soup! okay now on to the meals, this place was recommended to Us by a retired chef who sold me his car that same day. I asked if there was anything in the area and this is where he pointed us to. I have the quesadilla burger which was not served on bread, I guess everybody else does it wrong! it had a lot of guacamole on it, didn't skimp on anything. there was a nice variety for my side selection they had homemade chips or crinkle fries or something or regular fries or steak fries. I got the steak fries and she got regular fries. we ended up switching because we like each other's better. she had a burger I think it was called the black and bleu, red blue cheese on it. she doesn't eat bread so she was missing out. the bread looks fantastic. you might think it's a little pricey but getting a burger and fries and McDonald's is 10 bucks these days. these burgers I believe were $13.99. They have a nice holiday drink list but we didn't try anything. prices were listed on everything except for the wine and beer list which I assume changes all the time with the ridiculous Illinois alcohol taxes. great place, we'll probably...
Read moreHighly recommend the QUESADILLA burger! Not what I expected but pleasantly surprised! Living in Palatine for years and semi venturing out of strict quarantine, I decided to try more local establishments. My fiance and I stopped by Friday after work, as my sister owns a fitness establishment across the street and it always smells delicious from Brandt's. I had the Quesadilla Burger and my fiance had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. I was actually vegetarian for 2 years and have started to opt back into veggie options except occasionally. I was skeptical on this burger, but not seeing a veggie option, I decided to give this a try. I was positively surprised, being Mexican sometimes I'm skeptical of Americanized Mexican items on menus but this was delicious! It actually looks exactly like the picture on the Google Maps menu. I was worried I'd end up with some type of funky tostada lol. Definitely not a traditional corn tortilla (which was good in my book looking for a bun and this was thin and toasty), plus the guacamole, pico and the actual meat were superb! The fiance was very jealous with his healthier option to say the least. The chips were a bit burnt but no salt which is also preferable for me. I'll try the normal French fries next time, but definitely give Brandt's a try, the quality of the ingredients is definitely noticeable. Plus or server was marvelous, hard worker, sperry sweet and nice, and...
