Not suitable for vegetarians and for those who have seafood allergies!!!!
We ordered Red curry and green curry with vegetables and tofu and Pad Kee Mou (veggie with tofu) to go on Christmas (12/25/2021) for dinner. Specifically, before placing the order, I enquired about shrimp/ fish products in their curry pastes and was assured that they had none of those. When we got them home, the red curry had a strong smell of sea food and there was a hint of sea food smell in the green curry. When I phoned the restaurant about this, the owner informed me that the red and green curry pastes were made by someone else for them and not made by them. On enquiry, she did not know its contents. I asked her to read the contents of the paste and she then found out that the red curry paste had shrimp in it and the green curry paste did not have sea food according to its contents that she read out to me. We returned the red curry and she apologized and refunded the money for that. The green curry paste also definitely has shrimp paste in it, probably in lesser amounts. We couldn't eat the green curry too, because of the seafood smell. Whatever little we initially tried to eat has left a strong smell on my hands even though I used a fork to eat dinner. Perhaps we should have returned the green curry also.
Either, the owner missed out on reading the label of food ingredients or the manufacturer did not list it which would raise the concern for people who develop severe allergic reactions including anaphylaxis to shrimp or other sea food.
The owner informed me that Thai restaurants do not make their own curry pastes these days. I cannot comment on the veracity of that as I don't know further details. For comparison, we have never had red and green curry dishes smelling of seafood/ shrimp at Dan Thai in Schaumburg. I need to ask them where they get their curry pastes from.
The other ribbon noodle dish was oily to a degree and predominantly sweet as I had asked them not to make it spicy.
Overall, a very disappointing experience for us as with vegetarian food order that we placed! The owner was very courteous in my conversation with her. I wish that they know all the ingredients that go into their food as it can lead to a huge liability if someone develops a severe allergic reaction such as...
Read moreThai food is probably my favorite cuisine next to my own native Vietnamese food. Their flavors are so distinctive and the scale can range from sweet to sour and they can really turn the notch on spice. They also use a variety of garnishes and vegetables which reminds me of a close resemblance to our Vietnamese cuisines.
I caught up with an old friend of 6 years and we tried a new place and it did not disappoint. Everything was so flavorful, foods came out smoking hot (like the escargot appetizer) and spiced just right (such as the Seafood delight which has actual and good proportion of seafood) and I enjoyed everything even down to the sauces that the spring rolls laid upon. My friend also ordered Sesame Noodles (not pictured) but I had a taste and it was good. It was a dish with fine thin noodles and had seafood also. She finished it all and said she liked everything here. We ordered both of our entrees off of the Signature menu.
Prices were fair, proportions were good enough to share and the food and service was timely. I also appreciated the nice plates/ China they used and even down to the glasses they had for water. It made the place feel a bit more upscale. The restaurant has a nice ambiance with their authentic decor and menu selections. I was happy with my visit and I will be back. Definitely recommend this spot for any Thai food lovers out there. (Tip: their location was a bit tricky to find so route yourself using Google and...
Read moreProbably the first time I've given a review right after eating food. I normally wait a day or two to formulate my opinions. Note that this is purely from a vegetarian's (don't eat meat or fish) point of view. People who eat meat or seafood may not agree with my review.
Being a vegetarian, we have to specifically ask for no meat, fish or oyster sauce or any other sauce derived from fish whenever we order in Thai or Chinese restaurants. Which is what we ordered and the person assured us that they will make it purely vegetarian/vegan only. Every single item (with the exception of Curry fried rice which wasn't bad) smelled and tasted of fish. We've ordered from other Thai places and never had this problem. My entire family threw away the entire food they ordered and are making sandwiches at home- it was that bad. A complete waste of $90. The food wasn't cheap. And for this I gave a $10 tip for a carryout hoping the food will be good.
If you are a vegetarian, stay away from this place. There are better Than places to eat around here.
The dumplings and egg rolls were without taste or salt. Only dish that was tastier (comparatively) was the...
