Taste of China — Restaurant in Palisades Park

For what I ordered (steamed chicken with broccoli - garlic sauce on the side for dipping as you like - or don't), it's very good. The chicken when steamed (if it is good) is how you can measure if the restaurant is any good and it defintely passed the test. Most other Chinese restaurants chicken when steamed (with no sauce on it and eaten) will taste gamey and just not edible in my book. This was NOT the case. Other than that, the parking is non existent in the later hours till closing in front of the restaurant as the parking is shared with tenants of the building above and other restaurants in the same location. Not good for being on route 5 I can assure you, but still doable. Lastly, I know it's a Chinese restaurant, but they rush you off the phone when ordering without you finishing a thought or a sentence. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THAT. Have one more minute of patience and you might make more money per order. An extreme turn off when ordering anywhere really. Lastly, NO DELIVERY. Take this all into consideration and see if it's right with you. Any updates as to all items ordered, I will update here shortly. So we normally order from this restaurant and from a prior order they forgot to add 2 egg rolls so this time we order and explain we were owed from previous order and after 10 min on hold they agreed to put order in. Today's order is picked up and to find they didn't add egg roll that came with combo. We called up to explain and they said okay next time use phone number with order. Thinking that was the end when restaurant calls back to say they added egg roll but it's smaller than regular one that comes in combo meals. I explained to lady it's not in the order. I said we're arguing over a $2 egg roll. I asked how much is your combo egg roll, she explained we don't sell them so basically were now arguing over a $175 value..instead just saying we made mistake. I know people dont base things too much on reviews but just explaining my case. They called back...

Ordered online. It arrived quickly, but they're the equivalent of maybe 6-7 blocks away so...

I'm not "young"--I've eaten a lot of Americanized "lo mein" over the years. It was not good: too much soy, not enough garlic, ginger, etc. & noodles were mushy (not merely soft.) I asked my granddaughter how she felt about the lo mein & she said it wasn't good, that "it was bland". Mediocre spring rolls, which made me sad. It's one of my favorite things to eat at local "Chinese" joints. Other granddaughter said the beef & broccoli was decent. The chicken wings were actually done well--not soggy with oil. I think maybe I'm a bit out of touch, because I didn't notice the tip GrubHub automatically awarded the delivery person. A 25% tip to drive 6 blocks with takeout is ludicrous. But that's not the restaurants fault...

I won't be ordering...
