Always wanted to stop at El Mezcalito since they opened well over a year plus ago. My wife and I finally did visit there for lunch and we were sad we had not been here sooner. Although the space itself is overly dark, due mostly to the limited number of windows and low, for a restaurant, ceiling, the decor is bright and inviting. The bright uplifting music they had playing was more modern than the typical Mexican restaurant. We order the chicken enchiladas verde and a beef chimichanga. Both were served with refried beans and rice with some lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and guacamole. Solidly filled with meat and well portioned, every bite was tasty. Having lived in the true Southwest for nearly two decades, the food was not quite as seasoned as I would have liked, but it wasn't bland either, as so many of the other local establishments serve. We look forward to another visit and will see if the chef is willing to push the spices. Muy bueno.
UPDATE UPDATE 17 MAY 22 Under New Management Yes, I know what you are thinking, there goes the neighborhood. It was my first thought. I will admit the menu has smaller print. I ordered my typical go to dish, a ground beef Chimichanga and my wife got the tacos pastor, 3 different fillings, beef, chicken, and pork. The dishes were both accompanied with a Mexican type rice, and her's came with a side of refried beans. Now the bottom line. I believe the flavor was better than before and it was spot on before. There was a bay leaf in my Chimi. No big problem but we talked about all the Mexican and Tex-Mex recipes we knew and none add Bay leaf to the ground beef. That's not to say there isn't a recipe, but none we've ever made. If that was the reason for the savory flavor, I'm all for it. The tacos were a flavor treat as well. The rice was another unique preparation. Not only the typical seasonings but pieces of carrot, peas, and habanero chili's, making another tasty treat. Our only negative was our dessert, a sopaipilla. Here we got a fried flour tortilla generously covered in cinnamon, sugar, and honey. I comment to the wait staff ( also very good) how this wasn't a sopaipilla. Still, I'm keeping my rating for El Mezcal to and my recommendation you try one of the best Mexican style restaurants in Brevard.
UPDATE NOVEMBER 14 2022 The new management has done several improvements on the atmosphere. First they paint the walls above the wainscoting a white shade, which has definitely brighten up the entire restaurant. It really is less cave like now, but we wish they will continue on to the ceiling. They put a "shellac" over the wood floors. Another good move to bring the ambiance up, so the place doesn't look old. However, we can't help but notice the over swipes onto a lot of the tile flooring. The menu is no longer an eye chart for eagles and became a good and simple 4 pages. Tons of choices on those 4 pages. I had Enchiladas de Rancho, pork enchiladas with onions and peppers and a hotter red sauce. Very good šš, very tasty. We both had full plates of food and walked away stuffed and spent less than $40. El Mezcalito remains our go to Mexican restaurant in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had received many recommendations for this place, so we decided to try it out finally. There were only a few other customers there when we went in, as it was still early lunchtime just before noon on Saturday. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere wonderful and clean. The menu items to choose from are quite diverse and even include a few vegan options if you choose these. They bring you chips and salsa once you're seated. The chips are good. The salsa is okay but lacks any spice or real seasoning besides onions. For my taste anyway.
The main dishes were very tasty with the sides that came with them. Our orders included a Quesadilla guanajuato (steak) and tacos de carne asada. The quesadilla meal included rice, beans, and a side of guacamole and sour cream. I do have to say this was a perfect meal, all very good and flavorful. I think I would go back just for the rice and beans! My daughter's tacos also came with some rice and beans. The carne asada was good tasting. But the meat was a little fatty. Other than that, it was a wonderful meal for both. I was impressed in my first visit here and will most likely go back at some point. The only thing I found disappointing was the prices charged when you get your bill, were different than the ones stated on the menu. I am SURE it is stated somewhere on the menu, but it did not jump out at me. On the bill, it does state that if paying in cash the amount, which it stated, 4% would be refunded.
This restaurant did live up to its reputation. I recommend for good a Mexican food meal with many choices. Many homemade, or at least...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePulled into a parking space and the first thing you notice is the smell of the food! YUM! The entire parking area has amazing aromas of grilled Mexican food! The place is accessible and the dining room spacious so you donāt feel like you are on top of each other. Very clean and welcoming! Chips and fresh salsa was delivered immediately and the waitress was very attentive throughout the entire meal. The owner/manager (not sure which) named āGustavoā stopped by to ensure everything was good twice! I really appreciated how attentive he was! The food comes out on large platters. I got the 2 item combo just to try a variety of food. A beef race and cheese enchilada. The enchilada was amazing but the beef taco was āAmericanā style and although I loved the thin warm taco shell, it lacked flavor. I would probably order it next time with less toppings and more authentic. I asked for black beans (normally you get the combos with refried beans) and they were more than happy to accommodate. My family member got the chicken and steak fajitas which also looked impressive. He asked for white queso cheese on the side and it was delicious! The place got busy just as we were leaving due to the fact that it was 6pm. They have a bar and HUGE margaritas as well as a mariachi singers on Sundays. Overall I really enjoyed this place and thought the prices were good. We will be bringing the entire family back very soon! Thanks for an excellent meal! I am happy to find a great Mexican restaurant with attentive staff close by! Military discount and a 4%CASH...
