The algorithm gods dropped a "Best of Palm Beaches" pizza article in my feed recently and I saw The Underground Pizza was recommended. I've had little faith in the pizza making capabilities of SE Florida having traveled the span of it for work the past 20yrs, as well as being raised in NJ, NY, and the Chicagoland area eating the best pizzas on the planet. After doing a little research on the chef and the back story, I added it to my list of places to visit one day soon. Well, "soon" arrived as my brother happened to be in the area today and asked if I wanted to grab a bite, so I suggested The Underground Pizza. I'm really glad we stopped by, because it was flippin' delicious! First off, as I walked in, I felt like I was right back in college in Chicago during the 80's with the coolest music playing overhead from The The's Soul Mining album, This Is the Day. The retro wall art matched the music with, yet again, some of my favorite artists & albums growing up...The Smiths, Lou Reed, and several others adorned the walls. We were greeted by our very friendly server Jasmine that took our order, as well as had nice conversations about the food and how much we loved the vibe of the place. The other staff members were just as sweet and attentive. My brother had arrived first to the restaurant, so his pizza came out and to our pleasant surprise, it was absolutely delicious!! He ordered The Underground deep dish... Fresh ingredients, great crust, killer plum tomato sauce, and OMG the cheese pull!! I figured when my 9" sausage and mushroom deep dish arrived it would be similar in taste, but it was even better!! If you're craving Lou Malnati's, you'll never order another rock hard frozen delivery from them ever again once you try The Underground's hot and fresh version in Palm Beach Gardens!! I'd say the crust is a little bit different than Lou's sausage DD, but it was equally delicious and I loved every bite. My waistline may suffer now that The Underground Pizza is in town, but next time I'm looking for a cheat day off my keto and craving Chicago deep dish, I can finally say SE Florida has great pizza thanks to The Underground Pizza! So stop by and taste for yourself, and please spread the word so this place becomes a staple in our area for years to come! (Oh, and I just remembered that they have a cauliflower thin crust I'll be trying on my...
Read moreA sublime pizza experience! Specializing in unique deep dish pizzas, this establishment impresses with a crust that is both flaky and crispy, yet infused with a delightful buttery essence. The cornmeal-based crust provides a distinctive texture that elevates the entire pizza experience.
During our recent visit, we indulged in an East Side deep dish pizza, which showcased the perfect marriage of flavors and textures. The fresh, local ingredients shone brightly, each bite a testament to the quality and care put into the preparation. The toppings were generous and well-distributed, ensuring that every slice was as satisfying as the last.
In addition to the deep dish, we also tried the plain cheese thin crust pizza. Its simplicity allowed the fresh ingredients to stand out, and the crispy crust was the ideal foundation for the gooey, perfectly melted cheese. It was a tough decision to determine a favorite between the deep dish and the thin crust, as both were outstanding in their own right. The dedication to quality and flavor is evident in every bite. We are eagerly looking forward to our next visit to enjoy a sit-down experience, savoring these exceptional pizzas fresh out of the oven.
Aside from the food, it is very refreshing to have an owner so passionate and dedicated to provide nothing but the best. Cole is extremely kind and his staff mirror his devotion to providing a outstanding experience regardless if you dine in or take-out.
Underground Pizza is a must-visit for any pizza aficionado. Whether you're a deep dish devotee or a thin crust enthusiast, this pizzeria offers a culinary delight that will leave you...
Read moreLet me start by saying I really want this restaurant to succeed. The pizza is great and it’s always nice having more restaurant options close to home. I’m writing a review in hopes of helping management figure this out. Last night was our 2nd time there. The first time we dined at the bar and service was horrible. It’s as though very basic training has not been given to the servers. We ordered a bottle of wine each visit and there’s zero awareness of how you serve someone a bottle (I know this is a pizza place but how does a bartender not know the basics of how to properly serve a bottle of wine?) Last night seemed like a disaster for the whole crew working there. One couple left before even receiving their drinks. When we arrived the table next to us remained uncleared for the first 30 minutes we were there. Both food and drink orders were delivered to the wrong tables and the servers couldn’t seem to figure any of it out. All the servers seemed to just walk around in circles confused..and it wasn’t busy at all when we were there. It was painful to watch and there didn’t seem to be any clear ‘management’ present. Hopefully proper training will be put in place to help this place out…or just focus on the take out part and drop the dining in. The pizza is...
