Yu-Mi Sushi Cafe — Restaurant in Palm Beach Gardens

This is an excellent sushi restaurant. The inside of the restaurant is notably clean and organized. I included a picture of the bathroom because I was so impressed with how clean they keep it. I've noticed in the past few years that the overall quality of restaurant employees has declined noticeably. Most restaurants have amateur wait staff that aren't paying attention or keeping the restaurant clean. This is not the case here. The two woman working in the front of house are putting effort into their jobs and I respect them for it. I like the ambiance of this restaurant as well. It's in a quiet, low-key strip mall. The interior decor simple, but immaculate. When I eat at sushi restaurants, I prefer to go alone on a weeknight and sit at the bar, normally after a long day. Watching the sushi chef prepare my food through the small glass refrigerator is almost like looking into a washing machine at the laundromat. It's somehow cathartic. You can comfortably do this at this restaurant without being awkward. The two chefs I saw are older but skilled in their craft. It's obvious they've been doing this for a long time. The food was excellent. The menu is simple. They make sushi and that's all you should be going to this restaurant to eat. Although, I let my impulses get the better of me and ordered a fried cheesecake at the end of my meal. I'm not sure what else to write about this restaurant. Disgusting, awful people who run this place. If I could give zero stars I would. I decided to walk there to get some exercise and I was waiting for the hostess when I was told I not only could be seated but I couldn't even sit at the bar or wait inside while my party came. I had walked for two miles in the Florida heat and when I asked for water, the hostess practically made me beg for it. Who denies any human being water?? I've been a customer here for years and I am appalled at how they treated me. The service is always extremely slow if your eating in, even when it's dead and empty inside. They won't even let ANYONE get takeout because they claim they're always busy, but it's pretty dead even on weekends. The only good thing I can say about this place is that they have O.K. Sushi, but I'd rather be treated better and pay a bit more for much better sushi. Go to Hokkaido on Main Street in Jupiter. MUCH better sushi, and they always treat people great, and definitely ike human beings... They even are pet friendly when you eat outside, and will give your dog water and a bit of food. I'm NEVER going to Yu-Mi again, and you can bet your ass im going to write a terrible review for this place on ALL search engines and websites...They don't deserve my money or my time, and they shouldn't deserve yours. The sushi here is amazing! Everything here is tasty and fresh, if you're looking for a cheap, delicious lunch special, this is the place to go. The only downside about this place is that they have no menu online (unless you dig for an image someone may have posted online) and they don't really seem to enjoy doing any type of takeout service. There is no centralized website to really see their menu or what they have for a lunch special online, so if you call you have to ask what they have on the lunch menu, which in most cases they don't want to explain or say that they don't offer takeout (they do, if you know what you want)

In summary, if you're looking for delicious sushi (some of the best in the area) for a great price, this is the place to go. But if you don't want to sit down and are looking for somewhere to go to quickly takeout some food, I would avoid this place. This place is a really small and quaint restaurant, if you're looking for takeout while still offering delicious food, I would recommend KAO Gang on PGA. They have just as good sushi and amazing prices as well and everything is online if you want to do takeout.

Definitely recommended.
