I am on a constant crusade for the search of great pizza. Bill's Pizza has definitely earned it's place.
A quick note: This review is based on my visit to the Palm Desert location, February of 2021, and price, and ingredient and item availability may vary by location.
In terms of selection, Bill's Pizza has a vast assortment of toppings for make-your-own pizzas, which includes toppings many modern chains may lack (Anchovy, Eggplant, etc). A plus for those who enjoy the exotic. The selection of specialty pizza is also impressive - a plus for those who visit on a whim, are short on time, or want a solid combination of flavors.
In terms of price, Bill's Pizza brings quite a deal. I personally opted for a large pizza, which had a circumference spanning larger than extra large pizzas I've had. The location I visited also offered to do each pizza half differently, down to the sauce. A plus for variety and price.
As far as service, my single visit left positive impressions. The service was very friendly, something that on its own IS above and beyond in these tough times, especially in non-essential food establishments. Our order taker was very friendly, offered suggestions, made sure we were happy with our options, and showed no want of rushing, or pressure of any kind. Thank you!
The particular pizza I opted for on my visit was The Comeback. This pizza was truly a marvel. What sold me on it was the curry honey drizzle. This, combined with the ricotta and grilled onions, gave a heavenly light and sweet taste to this pizza (further balanced with the rest of the ingredients). It is certainly a pizza I recommend (and our order taker's 2nd favorite). Especially if you are in search for the new, the odd, the strange.
All in all, I can confidently recommend Bill's Pizza as an absolute must try, if not for the taste, for the experience as a pizza lover to shape your own opinion on this pizza joint and share with other enthusiasts of...
Read moreI would like to start by mentioning how awesome it is this place offers a vegan option. I appreciate the owner took this into consideration when conjuring up the menu. My family and I have dined here several times(I’ve brought co-workers here to hold casual * meetings) but always had “ok” service so but tonight is what broke the straw on the camels back. I called and when the phone was finally answered By the employee by the name of Dan, I asked if they delivered (we have 7 family members in town visiting and needed a large amount of food) which he answered they did not. That is totally fine. The reason I am writing this review is in hopes the owner has a serious conversation with his employees in customer service. After I thanked Dan for the information , I briefly paused to transition into my next question but before I could he hung up on me. Assuming I was finished on the phone, but I wasn’t. I was actually going to place an order to pick the pizzas up. I enjoy the food here a lot and I’ve sent a lot of business there way but if this place does not have a turn around in customer service I will no longer recommend this place to friends and family. I understand not every employee is like Dan or the other employees I’ve been waited by, there is actually a young woman who has been there since they opened who is exceptional. To the owner: Please have a refresher in customer service with your employees. You’re losing business. I will not be dining at Bills until...
Read moreI've driven by Bill's numerous times always saying to myself that I need to try this place. Yesterday (1/6/2024) I finally stopped in and gave it a try.
My wife ordered a Works and I had a pepperoni with spicy Italian sausage. The pizza is very good.
I had a beer and my wife had a cherry Coke. The draft beer selection is good and it is always a good thing when a restaurant has cherry Coke.
So why only four stars? When I eat pizza I want to watch sports and there isn't a single TV in the place (some may think this is a good thing ... I do not). But most importantly the service was very slow. We sat ourselves per the sign at the entrance and then waited, and waited, and waited. Not counting the kitchen there were at least six people working and none of them paid any notice to us. Finally, one of the workers said, "There's a new table that needs to be serviced," and someone came over to help us. Once we got served things were better but then when it was time to go we waited, and waited, and waited for the check. I'm OK with pizza places doing counter service if the service provided isn't good (might keep the prices down, too).
Stuft La Quinta is still my favorite in the...
