I've been frequenting Play since it opened. Matt and team do an excellent job taking care of you. It's a great hangout for locals as well as visitors.
If you are visiting, stop by with your luggage after you check out of your hotel. They have a luggage holding service so that you can enjoy Palm Springs, luggage-free, until your flight, which is just about two blocks from the lounge!
Matt and team are working to make incremental changes to suit everyone's needs. Each time you come, you may find new menu items, new game nights, something new for you.
My recommendations: Biscuit with Raspberry Jam Bagel Me, sausage, everything bagel Cold brew coffee Cluckadillia- chicken quesadilla
If you are local, I've seen many teams take their afternoon breaks together at Play, enjoy a beverage and snack and then play games for 20 or so minutes.
If you are new to Play, come without expectations and let the team creat joy for you.
Disclaimer: I do not work for Play. I've seen how Matt can create a concept and make it come to life and am honored to be a friend and patron to a locally owned business. I work remote and so I spend time at play working and enjoying...
Read moreA few months ago, we stopped by The Social Cafe & Play Lounge, but they were closed. This time, we checked their hours ahead of time and made sure they were open before heading over. The location is great, and there is a lot happening here. The menu is full of drink options, including a few beers on tap, as well as bottles and cans.
We ordered breakfast and a pint of beer, then sat outside to enjoy the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the canned beer I wanted was down to the last one and it was not cold, so I ordered an IPA instead. A few minutes later, our server came outside to let me know they had just kicked that keg. I ordered the other IPA they had on tap, and a few minutes after that, he brought me another pint on the house. That was a thoughtful gesture and really appreciated.
This is a cute, cozy spot where I could see myself spending a few hours working on my laptop or just relaxing. Before we left, they gave us a great recommendation for a bar in Palm Springs, which we ended up visiting on our way home.
I highly recommend this charming coffee shop and look forward to coming back. The breakfast quesadilla was also...
Read moreWe went as a group of 4 for breakfast mid week @ 9:15 am which was a good time since it wasn’t busy. From the street it’s not apparent when not using GPS since it sits back from Tahquitz Canyon Road at the entrance of 2 condo complexes on Louella Rd. Very limited menu choices overall, but we all found at least 1 breakfast item including beverages like coffee, special nitro brew mix (a blend of Dr. Pepper, vanilla and nitro brew which was unique), etc. Coffee cups were smaller than Starbucks. Importantly, their breakfast sandwiches were not very good ( bland and mostly tasteless) and used frozen eggs/ bagels like Starbucks but we all agreed Starbucks and even Jack in the Box have better tasting (and less expensive) sandwiches despite those being mostly refrigerated/ frozen. Now, with that being said, they heavily advertise their daily happy hours which are probably the way to go to enjoy drinks, friends, games since their food is not the way to go: you don’t go there to eat as food seems to be an afterthought. But, great patio space and of course, games to play! It’s worth a visit but...
