I heard this place had great food especially the wings. Well one out of two isn’t bad. The wings were decent, but 1) Fish and chips the fish was still frozen, the fries were warm, and the coleslaw was pretty much the same temperature. 2) The turkey sandwich had about three slices of turkey on this huge roll and the slice of cheese was very dry. 3) The green chili fries, came out with red chili, and took about 20 minutes before they brought out the correct order and the fries were room temperature so I don’t know why it took them so long to get out. I did however notice after waiting for so long that there were cooked fries in the basket just hanging out over the fryer. I watched both of those baskets dipped into the hot oil to warm them up and served. This happened twice. 4) The menus were sticky and so were the tables. 5) 9:45pm we were told the grill is closed, but you can cook your own that could take up to 30 minutes since it’s set at a low temp. 6) The table behind us ordered burgers and it took them about 35 minutes to cook their own burger and it still wasn’t to their liking after the took a bite or two since they had to put it back onto the grill for further cooking. 7) NO ONE in the kitchen, especially the cook and the plater, did not have on hairnets, facial nets, or gloves on. Only one of them had an apron on that was just filthy. 8) Our server talked our ear off and was very chatty, which is great, but we just wanted to order and not hear about why we should get the salad instead of just a extra side of something. It would be cheaper and that is what she picks and it saves us a dollar. Thank you! I think we will just pass on the salad bar. 9) Our server was busy rolling up the floor mats and brought two of our plates to our table and I’m sure her hands were never washed since it was in and out of the kitchen. 🤮 10) There is no reason why it should take asking three different people for our check. Finally another server helped us and apologized. It was not her fault. This owner should be helping out and retraining his employees and maybe himself as well. Someone is going to get sick eating at this establishment. Come on Palmer Lake you don’t want Buc-ee’s there, but you are satisfied with this poorly run restaurant establishment in your cute little town. I shake my head at this. If this is the best in Palmer Lake I don’t know what to say. Maybe service like this or lack of service is ok, but no this is just LAZINESS and not...

We waited nearly 20 minutes just to be acknowledged and over an hour for food that didn’t even come out together. Tables seated well after us were served first, while we had to keep asking about missing items that were either delayed or forgotten entirely.
The server never brought us a kids’ menu—I had to grab a dirty, used one from the empty table next to us and even told her I had to do that. She said nothing. Our daughter didn’t even get a water until we specifically asked for one to come with her meal, even though the rest of the table had drinks already.
My daughter’s grilled cheese came out lightly burnt and so late she had already filled up on snacks from our diaper bag. The fish portion was embarrassingly small—smaller than the fried pickle slices—and the wings were barely warm.
Worst of all, the service was blatantly uneven. The server was kind and attentive to a regular at the next table but was short and dismissive with us. When I told her we’d been waiting over 30 minutes for our food, she didn’t apologize—just said “okay, let me check” and walked off. No explanation, no ownership. When we followed up about missing food, she barely responded and never made it right. She fixed the check and apologized to another table for a missing item, but after all the delays and reminders we had to give her, she couldn’t even offer us a simple sorry.
She went around checking on every table nearby, thanking them and asking how everything was—except ours. We were polite, patient, and respectful the entire time. It was obvious we weren’t a priority—either because we weren’t regulars or just not her preferred table.
Every restaurant has busy nights, but that doesn’t excuse poor service and rude behavior. If this place wants to succeed, they need staff who can handle pressure without taking it out on guests. Unacceptable delays, inconsistent food, and service that made us feel completely unwelcome. Do yourself a favor—go literally...
Read moreAfter a hike, we had the dogs with us, so we chose a spot with a patio. A sunny day, a large-capacity patio, and plenty of dogs—perfect combination.
My friend ordered a prime rib sandwich with two types of horseradish, fries, a beer, and a water. I went with the fish & chips but substituted onion rings. The server asked if I wanted pasta salad instead of coleslaw, and I agreed.
Shaunee’s meal came out first, but without the horseradish sauces. She also thought her plate looked a bit messy. The water she ordered turned out to be a small, cheap bottled one. When she asked about the missing sauces, the waitress replied—snippily—“It was on the ticket. I don’t cook the food.” That response was surprising. No one expects servers to cook, but it is their job to make sure plates are complete before leaving the kitchen. Ten minutes later the sauces finally arrived, along with a quick comment that she’d check on my fish.
Taste-wise, Shaunee said her sandwich was fine. My fish was very good, the onion rings were edible but nothing special, and the pasta salad was undercooked and bland—I ended up giving most of it to the dog.
From what I observed, two waitresses seemed to be splitting tips. One was attentive and helpful, while the one who took our order came across as unhappy with her job—or at least having a bad day. Her attitude left a poor impression.
My dining companion was also charged a dollar for her water. When we asked why, at 4:35 p.m., we were told that because they don’t have a dishwasher on weekend mornings, they only serve bottled water. 🤔 Not sure what 4:30 p.m. has to do with morning service, nor how one glass of water would matter when they’d already used three plates and a beer glass. We just looked at each other.
If I’m ever in the area again, I might stop by for the fish and onion rings. At $12, that part was a fair deal. But with a final bill over $16—possibly due to substitution charges or the pasta salad I never asked for—the experience as a whole wasn’t...
