Not often I get to leave a review that I see as true 5 start down the board. Figlio is one of those rare exceptions that makes it possible.
Tonight my SO and I went for a nice dinner at a friends suggestion. We walked in not sure, its small and quaint. The walls are adorned with family photos and memorabilia. The wine collection is available for all to see and the menu is right there to read.
Tonight is their 5 course meal with seating to stay as long as you like (Please make reservations) So the only way I can do this any justice is to describe the dinner.
Started out with a Peperoni Ripieni – Italian stuffed mini bell peppers filled with creamy goat cheese, fresh chives, and parmesan, then topped with crispy pancetta. Unbelievable. I am not a goat cheese fan, but this was so mild and delicious, I was looking for more.
Next was a fresh mixed green salad. Fresh greens with a homemade Italian dressing. Crisp and fantastic.
3rd course was a Cacio e pepe pasta. The sauce was light, cheesy and delicious. Great follow up to the salad. At this point, we had to be careful. There was so much food and we were so full we had to save room for the main course.
4th Course consisted of Eggplant Rollatini stuffed with ricotta and Pecarino Romano covered in a very authentic red sauce. Fantastic. I am not a huge Eggplant fan, but after it was cooked this way it made almost a lasagna flavor in your mouth Delicious.
And along with the main course was the start of the evening Locally sourced beef short ribs. Falling off the bone and as tender as the day is long. Every bite just melted in your mouth.
Desert rolled out a Lemon cake that is made by none other than the family matriarch herself. Soft, moist and delicious. We also sampled the Pistachio Ricotta cake directly from Italy. Phenomenal.
All in all this was a wonderful experience. The location is right down town Palmer. So even if you are coming from afar, it's only a few miles off the Palmer Exit for the mass pike.
Straight up! It's worth every second of the drive and the time to spend. Prepare to relax and enjoy the dinner, the drinks and the time with your company. Cell service is not great (And that is a good thing)
One of the parts that makes it so special is that the restaurant is run by 3 generations of the same family. I don't mean it's been around 3 generations, I mean there are 3 generations working there now! It feels like you are dining in their home dining room. Fabulous.
It's an experience to say the least. One which will have you coming...
Read moreOkay let me start off by saying if you want a real review this is as real is it going to get. Went in there today for high hopes. Been wanting to try here for a while everything looked good on line. So we ordered our lunch . I ordered the beef marsala and my husband ordered the chicken rollatini we were asked do you want a soup or salad, I said I'd do the soup and my husband said he'd do the salad assuming it came with the meal because she didn't specify that it didn't after asking us. Not realizing after getting our bill that they charged us for it. Definitely didn't want a super salad but it made it sound like it came with the meal. Secondly , I ordered a side of meatballs because I wanted to try them and that's what I really really got disappointed!!!! these meatballs are frozen meatballs, I could not have been more upset about this. The bread came out the bread was delicious. The soup was actually pretty good as well, The salad came out with no dressing nothing on it for that price I don't even know. My beef marsala came out The beef was ok . But I don't know about Marsala sauce this was basically beef broth and maybe a half 1/2 of a cup boxed fusilli def not a Marsala . My husband's Chicken rollatini was basically broth as well and maybe one small slice of half of prosciutto. We kept hearing the microwave open and shutting the entire time we were there assuming that all of our meals were microwaved. And with the deception of having his order of super salad and get charged for it after making it sound like it came with the meal is very very dishonest. It's unfortunate because I definitely would have loved an amazing place in the area. If I want microwaved food I'll go to the local store and get it myself.. so disappointed. How about getting charged for our salads when she made it seemed like it came with the meal we go out offen this response was excuses the food was not good at all. And they are frozen meatballs my husband's eats them and he knows...
