Squidys 2 — Restaurant in Palmyra

Went for the Friday night fish. Nothing really special about it. I ordered the AYCE breaded fish with potato pancakes and the duck bacon wontons. My guest had the baked fish with fries.

To start the wontons were pretty good, mostly tasted of bacon and cheese with corn, reminded me of a corn chowder. These were the highlight of my meal.

The breaded fish, the breading on it was like a cornmeal breading but lacked any kind of seasoning. The fish itself was fairly decent, not overly fishy taste.

The potato pancakes were an even bigger disappointment as they were essentially hashbrowns pressed together and deep fried. There was absolutely no seasoning in these whatsoever, not even salt or pepper.

I tried some of my guests baked fish to see if it was any different and it was, just not for the better. The baked fish comes as what I can only describe as a fish log with paprika on top. Unlike the breaded fish this had a very fishy taste to it, which some people don't care for.

Service was passable at the least. The waitstaff checked on us maybe twice during our two hours there where the first hour was sat at the bar waiting...

Great fish on Friday, friendly staff. **Many months later.. *Update...fish has gone downhill; fried greasy and baked smaller portions. Last time we did Friday fish fry had to reserve baked fish ahead of time bcuz they sell out & could not get a baked potato, too, was told to ask ahead moving forward, I really should not have to call ahead at a restaurant to get something offered on the menu. Buffet style cold side dish selections became skimpy, slow to refill. Still like going on Thursday for bingo but cannot see going again on Fridays. The owners of the business are welcoming & friendly, great chicken wing flavors...

11/10. Great place, friendliest staff. Hit the bloody Mary bar on a Sunday, toppings galore, almost heaven, but not west Virginia, all Wisconsin baby. Had the crispy chicken ranch sandwich, quite literally the best chicken sandwich I've ever had.
