We went to this restaurant for lunch yesterday and had a very unpleasant experience. As soon as we said we wanted to dine and order, the hostess/waitress immediately insisted "Cash only". Giving the benefit of the doubt, we agreed to pay cash, assuming the card service must not be working.

But then we saw the other customers who arrived were provided with a proper tab and allowed to pay by credit card.

For our tab we were not provided with an official tab. The hostess/waitress just told us the amount. We paid cash plus tip and initially she told us it wasn't enough. Then insisted we give her the exact amount she had stated for the food and then leave the tip.

The whole experience was ruined by this discriminatory behavior. We wanted to confront her but didn't want to be unkind in front of other customers in the restaurant.

The food was not very appealing either. The eggplant/tofu was lacking flavor and the soup had more broth and very little vegetables.

It would be nice to get an explanation from the management for this strange request and behavior. I will not be recommending this place to any...

I really want to like this place. It is so close to where I live and I always love thai, vietnamese, and fusion! But every dish I have ordered has been poor. The pad thai is 95% noodles with barely any sauce. I ordered it twice because I couldn't believe it when every other restaurant pad thai instantly wins my heart. It doesn't have to be fancy, this includes Pei Wei pad thai fast-casual. The kung pao tofu had no spice. The mushroom/vegetarian delight was the best dish. It was really nice and light, very vietnamese! But unfortunately this style feels more satisfying as a side than a meal.

I have had much better thai from Twin Falls Idaho and the tiny town of Front Royal Virginia, so I think I can expect a little more from a place...

Super Thai / Chinese blend of food; good quality; freshly cooked; nice ingredients and variety, especially in our vegetarian dishes. Calm and relaxed atmosphere of a family run place, served by owner herself ( Jenny), and not at all fast or felt rushed with service.

Hot n sour vegetarian soup, kumpao tofu, Singapore noddle were very well made. Would love to try other vegetarian options next time - eggplant, Tom kha soup and spring rolls. Even the spicy sauce is nicely done a bit sour goes well with all dishes and even plain jasmine rice.

Recommend for Palo Alto midtown folks to patronize this place. Open 7 days, hard...

This place is a nice casual restaurant that tends to get busy with the lunch crowd in the cozy middlefield downtown of Palo Alto. Accordingly the place is pretty quiet when we showed up for early dinner. A bit warm and dimply lit, the place doesn’t exactly scream welcoming. The hostess is very warm and friendly though. The food was adequately tasty, though the eggplant dish was a mushy. The Thai curry was on point and The fried rice was a bit on spicy side. All good though. Good for a quick bite, bit don’t expect a premium meal even if they ask for the premium price.

This place deserves more rating than 3.9. I'm Asian, the name is IndoChine so I thought it's Indonesian Chinese food. But the menu had Thai, Chinese, Malay fusioned food. The spicy food isn't really spicy for Asians (might be for white/light flavor food people or whoever can't handle spices) so I could see why someone could expect spicy but the food isn't. However for Palo Alto, the value and price and service, are all very reasonable and quality.i think it should be at least 4.3 stars. Hence giving it a 5 to average it up (:

Huge quantity just for to-go. One dish can feed a family (of three)! If you are looking to gorge on food, this is the place. The location is a bit non-frequented which made it tricky for previous restaurants to endure. After getting a manicure or haircut next door, be easy on yourself and take home a piping hot dish to help support this business. The mango rice dessert is a must try. Indoor seating was not available but hopefully they will and a little table or chair outside might be more inviting and noticing
