We were happy to get an outdoor table so our dog could join us. The restaurant placed a giant TV screen outside for ordering up to payment. It was our first time to use it, but so user friendly that no assistance was needed. Paid and found ourselves a couple of small tables attached together. For necessary hydration, water bottles and drinking glasses were provided in a self-serve area by the counter inside the restaurant. Food was fresh and thoroughly enjoyed by my three teens. Hummus was perfectly spicy and smooth. Chicken skewer was flavorful. Ice tea was not sweet at all. Eating by the side of a closed street right after a farmer’s market exuded a beach town California vibe. People biking past while you take a bite of a lamb gyro and a guy sitting on a luggage placed on top of a skateboard cruised back and forth. It was pure, free entertainment. We chose this place over a row of places to eat facing each other in a main Palo Alto street and we were not disappointed. The busboys in Kali were super friendly. It’s probably less stressful not directly dealing with customers. All they have to do is clean the tables, bring the food and provide an occasional request of extra cheese. IMO, less customer face time, less stressful employees! Unmanned ordering system could be an answer to understaffed restaurants. Kali got it right - from the food to the ambience and...
Read moreReally good food. We ate there totally unplanned, we were going actually to another place next door but arrived about half hour shy from opening and as hungry as we were we rerouted to Kali Greek. I ordered a fish salad - comes with 2 generous portions of European Seabass on a big bed of romaine lettuce, olives, orange slices, julienne carrots and a lemon wedge. No dressing which I think is phenomenal as the olives are simply the perfect touch of salty and fatty. I also ordered a lentil soup which was again very light on the salt (great thing) allowing the flavors to come through. Hubby ordered a special of the week a mixed platter with sausage, chicken and beef skewer with house potatoes and tzatziki and pita and also got a side of feta cheese spread with more pita. I used to travel to Greece while in high school (well - during vacations) quite often so I'm familiar with the authentic Greek food flavors. This place has them top notch. That tzatziki sent me back 20 yrs....but I need to mention also the meats and potatoes, delish. Everything, the food, the place - very nicely decorated, the music, the location make this spot a must go. Totally...
Read moreUpdate for dinner June 2023 - stopped by for dinner on a Friday evening. Cal Ave is still blocked off to traffic, so there are lots of restaurants, including Kali Greek Kitchen, that have outdoor dining (indoor also available). We had the fish salad, Kali Feast (comes with 1 chicken skewer, 1 beef skewer, lamb, rotisserie potatoes, pita and tzatziki) and a zucchini fritters. The food is still delicious and good for a quick meal.
Original review: Grabbed a quick lunch from Kali Greek Kitchen. It's a fairly simple menu. You pick your protein (chicken, beef, lamb, fish, veggie or vegan) served as either a pita, salad or rice plate. My favorites are the chicken salad or chicken rice plate with a side order of zucchini fritters added on (comes with 2 as an add on). If you're feeling super hungry, you can order a whole side of zucchini fritters, which comes as an order of 4. It's served with a lemon and garlic aioli and is delicious. Currently, seating is available indoors and outdoors. You can place an order online for pick up or easily order when you get there...
