Inconsistent food quality. Flavorless Alfredo, but with great consistency. Looks great, tastes blander than milk. Same with every dish I've tried here with the exception of the pizza. Sometimes you get a soft, paper thin crust and other times a thicker, more traditional crust. So if you like both, you're good. However, sometimes the dough isn't fully cooked. And one of the sausages on the supreme, looks rather like large hot dog slices, is WAY too salty. I like salt and it's too much and ruins the whole thing. It also has an odd flavor that probably contributes to that. The margarita pizza is very good, again if you get a cooked crust and it's the thickness you like, I prefer a regular hand tossed or deep dish. Something that holds up to the toppings, not a soggy floppy crust. And sometimes you get that. But you just never know. And it's too expensive to not know.
Oh! And no Italian dressing for salad. How is that even possible at an Italian restaurant?! I asked for Italian dressing, and cheese and tomato sauce on top of my salad is what I got. And the bread is about like the pasta, flavorless. It's just white bread twists. Not sourdough, herbed, or anything. And sometimes it's soft and warm, other times crouton hard.
Update Food is about the same. I do not go there to try anything anymore. However, my daughter loves alfredo and was ordering it to go whenever she got the craving. I brought home olive garden alfredo a few weeks ago and now this restaurant's pasta just isn't good enough for her either, but she still likes their pizza.
I'm also not sure why the restaurant mentioned 7 different salad dressings in their response. I had asked for Italian, was told they had it, and literally got tomato sauce on my salad with cheese.
The bread is not served with dipping sauces such as flavored oils. It's served with butter. So if they're going for dipping bread, I'd think they'd serve it with something to dip it in. Which I've had hot bread served with various seasoned olive oils many times at vineyards. This isn't it.
I don't know anyone that works here, don't have issues with them personally. This is just my personal opinion based on my experiences and I am one to appreciate flavor. Everyone else's experiences and tastes may be different. And it may be just what you're looking for. But if you like garlic, basil, oregano, etc., You're not going to find dishes bursting with those...
Read moreI ate at Verona's 2 times quite a while back and was very unimpressed. My wife and I went out last night planning on eating at another one of our fav restaurants in town, but they were closed. Shari suggested Verona's, I said I wasn't excited about that, but I'd go. WOW! Am I glad I went. There were only customers at 2 other tables; kind of made me nervous. Usually places with really good food have a lot of customers. But it was a Monday night. Shari got a salad and I got Minestrone soup to begin the meal. Shari's salad was YUCK, almost no green in the lettuce and sorry tomatoes. I hope their salads get better. I pointed that out before we left. My soup was great. (Upon leaving they also brought a sample of their chicken noodle soup. WOW! It was even better than the Minestrone.) Shari picked some chicken/egg plant dish with her very fav pasta, angel hair (Shari's order also proved to be the favorite of 2 of the waitresses). I went with spaghetti and sausage. It came with angel hair pasta, which really isn't spaghetti, but it was good. Learned later that you can substitute other size/type pastas with your meal. Our waitress described our sauce options: Alfredo, marinara, meat sauce & something that was a mix of Alfredo and marinara. It sounded perfectly YUCK to me, so she brought a sample. WOW! Wrong again. I could have made a whole mean with the sauce (don't remember what they called it) and bread. Shari tried the same mix sauce and loved it too. My sausage was legit Italian sausage; GREAT flavor and an adequate amount with the meal. The bread looked like it was going to be tender yeast bread (not really what you normally want with pasta) but it proved to be firm like Italian bread. Great for dipping with the sauce. YUM! In the drink department they had sweet peach ice tea with free refills so this very thirsty camper was happy. Shari and I will definitely be returning. All that for $25. Go check it out. God bless....
Read moreI moved to Pampa when I was 13 years old and unfortunately have not been back since I graduated high school in 2014. However, I woke up this morning very nostalgic, not only for the wonderful food I had the privilege of eating from Verona's (my go-to was always the eggplant parm), but also for the memory of how sweet the family owners always were to me. I remember coming to the restaurant for the first time, back when they were in the original location, and immediately feeling welcomed and like I fit in there. Every time I returned over the 5 years I lived in Pampa, I was greeted with stories and chats with the owners, especially their daughter who I remember being so funny. I wanted to leave this review because I can imagine this is a very difficult time for many restaurants, and I just wanted to let the owners know how much I appreciated the way they welcomed me into their food home. Thank you, and I hope all is well with your family during this...
