I got 2 ground beef tacos, a ground beef burrito, a cheese enchilada, and a ground beef enchilada, and the standard rice and beans.
I ordered through grubhub for pickup, was told my order would be ready in 10-30 minutes. Well, either my meal is going to sit for 20 minutes and get cold, or I'm going to wait at the restaurant for 20 minutes while they cook my meal. I decided to split the difference, and show up 20 minutes after placing the order. When I did, I waited for maybe 60 seconds and it was packaged and ready to go. Because I'd ordered through grubhub and paid online, everything was taken care of they handed me the food and I was on my way. Full points for customer service experience getting a to go order.
However, the food was absolutely terrible. The tacos had a little bit of I'm guessing cotija cheese, and one onion sliver in addition to the meat so they're not exactly going wild with the toppings. It was basically just a tortilla and ground beef. The ground beef itself was dry and flavorless. The burrito, probably had more rice in it than it did meat. Also flavorless, it was just more of a texture than anything. The enchiladas, it was hard to tell which was the cheese and which was the ground beef without opening them up, because the filling was indistinguishable by flavor. The enchilada sauce however had a very strong flavor! Unfortunately that flavor was just chili powder. This place puts zero effort into its recipes.
Price $23, a bit much in my opinion, but probably competitive...until you look at the tacos in the picture. No I'm not a freak with ginormous hands, the tacos are no bigger than the mini tacos you can buy at the grocery store. The enchiladas and burrito were bigger than the tacos, but were still ridiculously small. Taco Bell's portions are larger for goodness sake.
I highly recommend AGAINST trying this place, there's a taco bell literally 1 mile away that will be better...
Read moreUpdated review (El Chicano) - Wow Excellent!!! This is the the 3rd time we’ve been since the new restaurant and new owners under El Chicano! All three times have been great. This time however stands out! We ordered The El Chicano Burro, The Burro, Steak Tacos and the Wings! We also got chips, queso, salsa and guacamole as a side. Every single meals was absolutely great!! But the standout was THE WINGS! Yes wings... at a Mexican restaurant (we thought, “why not”) and they are surprisingly excellent! We got the Buffalo Caliente Char-Buffed. Honestly top 3 wings and flavor I’ve had. The size of the wings were large as well. Well Done El Chicano, you’ve got local Papillion visitors here! Thank you!
Patio Loco (Old Review) - We really had high hopes for this local Mexican restaurant, however I believe the menu has consistently too high of prices for the quality of food and drinks. The food is not bad, but not worth $60 for 3 people at this quality. I'd think completely different if it were from scratch. Margaritas are premixed and made in batches each day we were told. We had 1 strawberry, regular and premium margarita, queso, an enchilada plate, veggie burrito and tostadas. It seems like the queso and salsa was out of a bulk buy possibly. But, again the food was good, drinks weren't our favorite and prices too high for the product. We always give new restaurants a 2nd try but will wait awhile for feedback to be taken and hopefully they make some...
Read moreThis was an epic failure and we walked out with no more than a couple bites.
The $3.99 salsa does appear to be homemade and has a majority of the right ingredients, but there is something fundamentally missing or wrong. There's a peculiar and unplaceable taste in the clear liquid portion of the salsa. The manager couldn't offer any insight as the salsa is allegedly a secret family recipe. The chips appear to be store bought.
I couldn't understand why the salse bowl had small plates on the side. Typically you'd see individual ramekins for salsa.
The various meats (except chicken and ground beef) appeared to all the broken down the same way, marinated, and cooked in a large batch. By the time it made it into a taco I ordered, it was cold and dried out. There was an obvious attempt at heating as some spilled cheese melted to the side of the taco shell. The monterrey jack cheese they use has the appearance of parmesan slivers and tastes faintly of goat cheese.
The street tacos should have come with lime... Maybe they ran out?
In speaking with the manager he apparently culled recipes from several large cities around the US and unsuccessfully modified them.
Fortunately the side of fries were good, and they were the only thing not made from scratch in-house...
