In my humble, yet discerning opinion, the "Everything Bagel" of Paramus, NJ is hands down the holy grail of the bagel world. It's an irresistible siren's song to us bagel devotees, our ritualistic pit stop every time we take the journey from our home in upstate New York down to the shore.
This treasured culinary gem is led by none other than the maestro himself, Elliot. A magician with flour, water, and yeast, he has transformed what a humble bagel can be. He's a charismatic owner who greets every customer with warmth and infectious enthusiasm. He knows his regulars by name, and I dare say he's the heart and soul of Everything Bagel. Elliot has created a community, a gathering place that feels like home away from home, only with better food!
Now, let's talk about the real magic: the bagels. They are baked to perfection, with a sublime crust that provides the perfect snap to each bite, revealing the chewy delight inside. The classic "Everything" bagel - their namesake - is a grand slam, a brilliant orchestra of flavors. The toppings are generously applied, ensuring you get that exquisite burst of flavor with every nibble.
But what sets Everything Bagel apart is their attention to dietary needs. As someone with a gluten-intolerant family member, I cannot express my gratitude enough for their extensive range of gluten-free items. From bagels and breads to pastries and spreads, Elliot ensures that no one is left out of the bagel party. It's a delight to see my family savoring these treats without worry.
Whether it's their homey ambiance, Elliot's genuine hospitality, or the tantalizing aroma of freshly baked bagels that draw you in, I guarantee you'll leave with a satisfied belly and a renewed love for this humble round bread. Everything Bagel isn't just a bagel shop, it's an experience, a must-have adventure for every trip we make to the shore.
The "Everything Bagel" of Paramus, NJ is more than a 5-star establishment - it's the North Star for bagel aficionados. Trust me, once you've had a taste, nothing else comes close. So, do yourself a favor: make the pilgrimage, indulge in the bagel revolution, and tell Elliot we sent you. You can...
Read moreIf I could give ZERO stars I would. We spent over $80 to get bagels and baked items for ourselves & for Gluten free (GF) friends coming to visit.
We used to come here frequently to purchase GF bagels & treats. When we pulled up, we saw the “WHOS Gluten free” sign was missing from the front of the building and a customer said Everything Bagels & Who’s gluten free are no longer partners.
I asked the Everything Bagel owner about it and he confirmed they now make their own gluten free bagels in house and they use a different recipes & flours. You can tell the difference. We feel the quality has been affected adversely.
The Whos Gluten Free products were so fresh and high quality. The Everything Bagel new bagels & baked goods were dry and stale - some were even inedible.
They have 3 large displays of GF treats. Be aware that SOME of these items are not fresh. We bought some of the pastries and not only were they VERY expensive ($7- $10 per Pastry), but most of them were stale.
** Be aware if they offer to heat your food up, it might mean that the food is not fresh and they will warm it so it seems fresh. The owner did this to us.
When we got home, we all tried the Linzer tarts that tasted like cardboard and the inside had hard preserves. The cannolis had mold on them and the Napoleons tasted off. Some cookies tasted fresh, while others were hard like rocks. Inedible. We will never buy from Everything Bagel again.
Be very aware of cross contamination. The worker touched gluten foods, then gluten free foods without washing his hands or changing gloves.
Also, to EVERYONE - be careful of the prices they charge on you order. This place is not only expensive but they overcharged us. Be careful that you are not overcharged, especially might if you don't pay attention.
I would try other bagel shops in the area. This place is overpriced and selling stale items. We are very disappointed. This time is the last time we will patronize this...
Read moreI know they get all their high reviews from having a giant selection of gluten free options- so if that is what you need- this is the place. However, I will never get food from here again. I am a huge breakfast fan and have been to every bagel place in the area. Everything Bagel makes good sandwiches, not great ones. The major concern is how they rip customers off. I have picked up breakfast for a coworker and I around 5 times and he has went about 3. Every time we feel that the price is high but shrug it off because we are thinking it's what we ordered. The other day I stopped in to pick up our 2 sandwiches and added a single small cookie. Paid $20 and change not really thinking about it. When I got to work I realized how ridiculous that amount was. I called the store and even though he seemed annoyed as they were probably busy, he answered my questions. I told him that I asked for lox, tomato, and avocado on a mini toasted bagel. There was no tomato and they did not toast it. He says come back and get another one. I can't I am at work now. I asked how much was my mini bagel? He says 6 and change. OK how much was the taylor ham on a bagel? 6 and change... OK why the heck did you charge me 20 and change?? a cookie? tax? still doesn't add up. He says come back and I will refund you. Once again I am at work. I thought back to all the times we went previously and realized it was not what we ordered. This place is not only expensive but they will rip you off if you don't pay attention. There are WAY better bagel places in the area. I recommend Paramus Bagel any day...
