Brown families beware. You are NOT welcomed here at any time.
I'm not one to call racism unless I see it reoccurring in the same place multiple times. Well, I've been here at least 3 times and each time was the same experience. It's safe to say, this store is demonstrating racism towards my brown family. The last experience was on Sat, Nov 2. Check the camera from the hours of 3pm-4:10pm. We were looked at and ignored by at least 4 people. Everytime my husband saw someone twiddling their thumbs, they said they couldn't help him and offered no other solution, while walking away to ask some white family if they needed help. After a while, we begged some woman (Stephanie I believe) to help us as we planned to drop $5000 asap because we trashed our couch yesterday. But she pushed us off on a woman with glasses who said, "I can't help you with anything that's not online." She continued to give us an attitude with every question I asked while I'm taking care of my son with autism and my 2 year old daughter. She was annoyed with me, never gave eye contact, and said, "This is our busiest time, you can't be helped without an appointment"... in a very rude way. That is, until I said we're almost an hour away and this is the only time we can come here with my husband's work schedule (which is 100% true). Then she grabbed someone who didn't even look in our eyes to answer my questions and within less than 1 minute, she just walked away from us and walked to a white family and asked if they needed help.. I didn't know our conversation ended. My afro-latino husband was so insulted and he's the kindest most hardworking man. The only one who was nice to us was the older woman by the door. She was sweet and kind by acknowledging our existence. Everyone on the 2nd floor that we interacted with were not kind to us and we saw another Hispanic family treated similarly. This treatment has been happening all different times (evening, mid day, weekend) over the course of the past 2 years. I will never go back here and strongly recommend any brown people from...
Read moreMy family and I were on our way back from a trip in NYC and decided to stop at this location to look at couches for a new room we have. We don’t have a Crate and Barrel anywhere near where we live. We wanted to actually test out the couches and not chance ordering. The young sales woman who helped us, was the most unpleasant person. She didn’t greet us, we had to ask questions and she barely answered them (with a mumble). We proceeded to check out a variety of couches throughout the store and were very happy to see the amazing selections. As time went on, our young children started to become restless. Our 4 year old son, was starting to act up, in no way did he do any damage to the store but screaming and getting bored. Anyone with kids knows this is humiliating. Here’s where the sales woman’s attitude started to get worse. She was rolling her eyes, following us around making sure our kids didn’t do any damage which they wouldn’t. Mind you, we were very embarrassed by our son’s behavior but wanted to asked a few more questions and test out a few more couches before we left because the couches are very expensive. I had my son apologize for his screaming etc and she didn’t say anything. At the very end of our time there, my daughter who is 8 accidentally pulled off the knob wall. I proceeded to apologize and the sales woman said “this can’t happen”, like I wasn’t mortified enough! She was very rude, unhelpful and quite annoying following us around the store. We left with some samples of fabrics and felt so pressured by them to get out. For such a high end store, why would we purchase from her. Never going back...
Read moreTotally ridiculous. Here's the story - I like the products on their website and look for their design consultation. Their website says "No Pressure and No Purchase Required" for the "free design service". I schedule an appt with their NYC branch who cancel it last moment and tell me to contact Paramus I schedule an appt with Paramus and clear up my calendar. The Paramus person never shows up. I contact them and they make the excuse that "their system didn't send their designer a notification" which is obviously a lie since their same system sent me a confirmation twice! I call them and they tell me the designer will reach out to me for a virtual appointment. Someone calls me and says I can reschedule. I oblige and say that I am okay to reschedule. Then they transfer the call to yey another lady who says this thrice - "We will only schedule the appt if you confirm you will buy from us and like our products" I tell her twice that I like their products and hence want the design consultation. She keeps repeating the same thing again and again. Don't know what else she was expecting to hear from me apart from the fact that I like their products and want the consultation. She then made it sound like them wasting my time was no big deal and it is actually their time that is being wasted.
Very unprofessional and rude. I read a few comments on the racist nature of their people on other reviews, but never believed it until this.
Hope some action is taken. Never using...
