We love to patronize local mom and pop restaurants, and this place is more than that. Not only did we receive great service and incredible food, as one often gets at a mom and pop place, but also the atmosphere, and decor of the restaurant gave the impression of a national chain, which in Casa Mata is a feather in their cap!
We ate at one of their two locations, this one is here in Parker. It was a Saturday and we lucked out. They were offering a deal, buy one get one for 50% off. We later realized they always offer a daily discount deal, something we plan on sampling.
From the time we ordered to the time we received our meal it was probably all of 10 minutes. My husband ordered the chocolate mole, fajita style. I ordered the two enchilada plate and my daughter ordered the chicken and vegetables in a cream sauce, served fajita style. All three had distinctive and different yummy taste. There was so much food we each left with a doggy bag. Plus it didn't help that we totally indulged on their free warm chips, homemade salsa and bean dip before our meal arrived.
Everyone from the host, to our waitress, and to the table staff were very friendly, and responsive. Fresh chips were provided as was salsa and bean dip along with our water glasses being refilled without even asking. I cannot say enough about how great the service was.
This will be a place we definitely return to and when we have company in town, a place we...

Chips are fresh. Complementary Bean Dip comes with melted cheese and a hint of green chili. Complementary salsa is ON POINT with the fresh cilantro and tomatoes.
You get the sense the staff are good people. They are flexible and want you to enjoy yourself.
Proper French Fries but they could have spent a tad more time in the frier. Im pretty sure there is lime juice in the ranch dip…YEAH!
Back to the Bean Dip…please don’t be shy about filling your chip up each time…maybe just ask for more.
Time to unrequested water refill…5 minutes.
Diablo Wings are both super crispy but the sauce is spicy, delicious, without being overbearing. The wings with the broken bones were not fun. The meat was juicy and pulled right off the bone.
And now…the reason this place gets five stars instead of four…The Shrimp Soup. Wait for it to cool! Think Pho with Saladitas instead of noodles. Came out Piping hot. I only delayed eating it because it was so darn aromatic. Yes that’s a whole carrot in the photo. I asked for Tapatío. Didn’t need it. I’m pretty sure there is fracking Saffron in the soup!!!!!!!
…Come at least once for the Shrimp Soup…I literally sat in my booth and waited for my stomach to get unfull so I could finish the leftover broth.
Afterword: “El Abuelo” because one of the brothers carries that nickname. He’s not that old…but he does look that old ;)
P.S. That soup broth, cold, as a base for a Bloody Mary...
Read more*** UPDATE * We gave this place another shot and had a WAY better experience. Service was great, food was fast and HOT and tasted wonderful.
We will definitely be back at some point. Still not our favorite Mexican restaurant but was very good!
Disappointed. We were excited about a new Mexican restaurant that is literally right down the street but this experience was pretty bad. Got drinks, chips and salsa quick which was great, that's about where the great ended. Took nearly 10 minutes for someone to take our order and another about 30 before our cold food came out. There are 2 things that most Mexican restaurants are known for; quick food and steaming hot burn your hands plates. This was not the case for either. There is more but I'll leave it at that
Positive note, the food seemed like it would have been good if it was hot.
Really seemed like they were disorganized or understaffed or just not prepared to open. Final note...... building is slightly odd for a Mexican restaurant, space feels more like all day diner not authentic...
