In Decatur County Tennessee, we do not have many unique, gastronomic experiences to enjoy. Certainly not revolving around donuts. Cafe Do is definitely an outlier and a trailblazer in our remote area best known for world-class catfish dinners and back forty BBQ. A bespoke donut shop that serves Americanos instead of the obligatory overcooked pot coffee that is standard everywhere else. Now, don't get me wrong, you can get a great breakfast biscuit in our region, but what I experienced at Cafe Do this past Saturday morning was nothing short of life changing! The, "DONICH," a cross between a donut and a breakfast sandwich, made in an open floor plan donut making factory, where the shimmering cleanliness is sublimely present, melts in your mouth while simultaneously bursting with flavors at first bite. I had a sausage, egg and cheese...it was outrageous! An unsweetened dough donut, with the hole left in it, held in the homemade sausage with just the right amount of pepper and spice, egg, cheese and a slightly sweet marmalade like spread that worked so well together that makes it absolutely one of a kind. Cafe Do is truly another reason why you should come to visit, "delicious," Decatur...
Read moreI was desperate. We were renting a house locally. We had brought the coffee grinder, and we had a coffee machine. What we didn't have was coffee beans. After shopping several local stores, all I could seem to find was ground coffee. I searched Google Maps for "coffee," and Cafe Do popped up on the map of Parsons, TN.
Cafe Do (like "dough," not "dew") is a lovely coffee shop nestled just off the main road. The coffee is rich and smooth, and their bakery selection is top notch. We tried their blueberry scones, the brown sugar cinnamon scones, and their chocolate chip cookies (roughly the size of hubcaps). The couple who run the shop were kind and patient as me and my daughter made up our minds of what baked goods were leaving with us. The scones are exactly as they should be, that delightful cross between cake and biscuit. Their cookies are buttery and make your cheekbones tingle. We've enjoyed the pound of whole bean coffee we purchased from them which was packaged as a I waited.
If you find yourselves on a route anywhere near Parsons, it's more than worth it to stop by and enjoy the atmosphere, coffee, and treats of a people who are obviously passionate about what they do (like...
Read moreI’m a little delayed on writing this review as I went almost a month ago now wow house hunting. Gorgeous inside and very bright and happy. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’m still thinking about the maple doughnut that I had when we stopped there! The coffee is great as well and they blew my mind when they gave us a free sample of a drink that they said they had created that taste like Hobby lobby smells; no joke, it does! I can’t explain it other than to say it was comforting like fall…cinnamon notes. Best thing about this place, the family that owns it and works there. I found their shop while searching for coffee online and coming across their Facebook page where I watched a video of their daughter and she was so funny I just kept watching! They are so inviting and made the town of Parsons feel like somewhere we want to call home. Hope to come back to visit if we are able to get a home...
