Gallo Nero Peabody — Restaurant in Peabody

Gallo Nero is what I could best describe as a trap restaurant. It's interior is nice enough, the menu items sound good, and everything is pricey, so it must be good right? Wrong. First impressions of the food are set by what are obviously frozen low quality bread rolls and garlic oil that tastes burnt. The 17$ calamari appetizer is barely seasoned with salt and pepper. The 17$ carbonara uses American style smoked bacon and ham, not pancetta or guancialle. The 24$ porcini and sausage in wine sauce tagliatelle is overloaded with sausage, light on the wine and porcini. All together it ended up as a 71$ (plus tip) case of diarrhea the next day. Before we went we were joking that we should just go to Bertuccis instead. After we went we were wishing we had just followed through on that. This place is an absolute gem! We're staying in Salem for the week and wanted to travel out for more of a local place. We called ahead to see if they offered off-street parking and the gentleman that answered the phone even offered to come out when we got there to guide us, which was incredibly considerate. We got there with no problems and got seated and they brought over some fried ricotta balls in sauce that were to die for! My fiancé and I both got pasta dinners which come with salad and bread. Their house dressing was the best Golden Italian style dressing that I've ever had and their rolls were amazingly fresh. They make their own pasta and it was very clear from the start. wow. let me just start off by saying this is one of my FAVORITE spots! the customer service, food & restaurant alone are amazing & the BEST in Peabody!!! you will NOT be disappointed. all staff members are extremely friendly, well mannered & very attentive. the drinks are amazing & don’t even get me started with the food. there is barley any waiting time… dining in, out &/or delivery you will have your food within 15-40min & WARM at that. The hosts/waiters are truly so sweet, they make the experience rememberable. The smiles on their faces & the way they are so amazing with their customers are truly remarkable. Everyone here makes me feel welcomed & appreciated. I am a regular here & invite you to be one as well. GALLOS WILL NOT DISAPPOINT. Ps.
