NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. very disappointed with the staff & management. my family & i have been coming here for years. upon todays visit we showed up when it opened, 5pm for happy hour. we don’t always have the ability to find a baby sitter so our 2 year old son who has a speech delay comes with us. he loves it here, he gets very excited. he can get loud at times but we were all under the impression that they were a family friendly restaurant as they have highchairs, they have a changing station in the bathroom, they have kids meals & i’ve seen kids (wilder than my son) in the restaurant on multiple occasions. towards the end of our meal today my son was getting ancy so after asking for the bill i took my son by his hand & we were walking out so my partner could clean up the table as we always try to do for the wait staff & pay the bill. the manager was waiting for me at the door & decided to tell me word for word that we are “not welcome to dine in anymore, please do takeout from now on” … when i asked why, he told me my son was a problem in the restaurant. let me also stress the fact that today he was in a great mood & was only talking in an excited way , in the way that he knows how which is in yells. he wasn’t running around, he wasn’t doing anything at this restaurant besides sitting in his high chair. he specifically told me that ONLY my son who is 2 years old is not welcome here anymore. i felt so extremely uncomfortable as this is not something i’ve ever experienced & i am truthfully enraged by the fact that they specifically banned my child and my child only. absolutely disgusting and unprofessional behavior. the amount of money we’ve spent here throughout the years is truthfully regrettable after the treatment we’ve received today.

after approaching me alone with my son, my boyfriend went back in to speak to the manager himself about the incident. the manager approached my boyfriend with a different demeanor & was open to then all of a sudden “working something out in the future”. apparently there was a miserable couple who walked in & walked out because of my son. after years of spending money here, tipping the staff, being kind, literally being considered regulars by the staff themselves, and also constantly bringing others in to this restaurant to spend their money, how a random miserable couple feels about my child is not my problem.

shame on you maki. we will never ever be eating here again & i will be sure to let everyone else know about...

Maki is a great restaurant.

I've been there a few times so far and I plan on going back. The sushi boat for two has to be my favorite dish to split. I enjoy the variety you get from it while not having to make decisions about which things you want. I really enjoyed their crunchy crab roll in the sushi boat when I was there, I ended up getting a second one because it was so good.

I also really enjoyed the California roll. This was because it had a very good amount of cream cheese in it. Many places I go the cream cheese is overwhelming and I can't stand it. Maki had enough cream cheese but not too much in their California roll.

As far as drinks, I haven't had the sake here, but I have had the scorpion bowl and a Mai Tai. Both of which were very tasty.

The only issue I have ever had was there was a mix-up in our order was delivered to another table so it took a while for us to get our sushi. However, they were very apologetic and did not charge us for the scorpion bowl. They handle this mistake very well, which is why they definitely still receive five stars.

I we'll definitely be returning to Maki in the near future. I just wish they were open for lunch, because I would probably go during the work day if...

Food is great, one of my favorite sushi spots and I been doing both take out and dining in for years. Would give 5 stars but quality of staff has gone down a lot. Service is incredibly slow and wait staff probably wouldn’t even check in on you if you were choking on a piece of sushi. That’s how inattentive they are. When I paid for my meal I left a $100 bill for a $70 meal and the waitress didn’t give me my change back. She came back with a big grin on her face a “thank you,” and not one cent of my change back. If she was a great waitress I would be more than happy to tip her almost 50% of the bill but honestly she didn’t check in on my table not once and our water cups were never refilled after drinking it within the first 15 minutes cus our drinks took forever to come out. So it just feels like I was robbed. Most likely an honest mistake but idk maybe she should have asked me instead of just pocketing the rest of my money. Anyway, the food is 10/10. Delicious sushi that is more enjoyable as takeout would never come back in...

First time here last night. Atmosphere was nice. The server was really nice and made sure we understood the menu. We ordered crispy calamari, eel roll, kimono roll, spicy Cronk and octopus roll, and sushi Pizza. Crispy calamari was light and crispy, kinda plain but with the squeeze of lemon. Lemon really helped the calamari tasted even better and zesty. Eel roll is actually what I expected. Kimono roll is basically the shrimp spring rolls and it wasn't bad at all. Cronk and octopus roll was good but didn't take the octopus as much. Mostly, the glaze, Sriracha, and Cronk overpowered the taste of octopus. Still wasn't bad at all. Sushi pizza was good but it was heavy on the tempura. The tuna on the sushi pizza, basically melts in your mouth. Despite the tempura is bit heavy, all the dishes were good and delicious. And yes, we will come back in the near future.

Another successful birthday dinner with our party of 5. Each of us picked a roll we wanted and a few basic rolls. This would be this first time I'll say I had not one thing to say other then, all the roll were fantastic even the basic Philly. The sushi tasted absolutely amazing and could be a new favorite in this area. The restaurant is cute and comfortable, but you should definitely step in and take a bite, you won't regret it. For our party of 5 we spent 220 for 8 rolls 2 deserts, but we also had about 6 alcoholic drinks added to our bill. You'll also find parking just across the street along a side street for public parking.

Maki Sushi in Peabody has the freshest and tastiest sushi in the area bar none. They also are about 15-20% less expensive than other Peabody, Salem, Beverly or Swampscott restaurants. It has two bars and table service as well. In the past the service had been on the slow side, but in recent months, I am happy to say, both the food and drink service has improved and is now a strong point. Or favorite to order is the Maki Special Combo with three rolls, including the best Sunset Roll we've ever had! Don't forget to check out the specials board as they are often fresh from the pier that day!
